I started an excercise program and my leg muscles are very sore. Should I continue with my program or hold off a few days?

Muscle fibers become torn after an intense exercise. They then need time to repair the damage, and prepare for another round of intense exercise by making a little bit more muscle. As a bodybuilder, I will not exercise my muscles till they are not sore, and I know that my muscle fibers are repaired and prepared for another round of even heavier weights! So, I would hold off a few days till they feel not sore (sore means that the cells that you broke in your muscle fibers have not been cleaned up by the body and are causing inflammation at the sight. This is so the blood can keep coming in and cleaning up the broken cells as your body repairs them).

If they are just a little sore continue and it should ease up some, if it does not give them a day of rest because you might be doing to much to soon and you would not want to risk injury

you should work muscle groups on alternating days - legs one day, upper body the next, etc. when you work the same muscles repeatedly, you set yourself up for injuries.

That good then, it mean the program is working. Give your leg a rest by stop going shopping for a few days.
