As a smart a*se hedgehog.

Soldering was invented by to Irishmen who went to Scotland. Hence the famous song " I'll tac the high road and you'll tac the low road " and I'll be in Scotland before you.

Can I have 10 points for being so smart.

Soldering -- joining two pieces of metal together with heat and an acidic compound -- or soldiering -- military history?

Wikipedia's article on soldering is below -- but no mention of soldering's history.

Soldering? Its rather like soldiering -
you're in the heat of it either way.

Seriously, I guess its been thought of since the bronze age when people first started melting metals and joining metals together.
There's different ways of using flux - perhaps that should be your next question?

i think it started in world war 2. all the aircraft had to be rivited and all electrical joints had to be soldered so the vibration couldn't break them loose. Things were soldered before that, but i think that was the real beginning????
