Your pain could be a number of things. U really should go & see an orthopaedic for this. I included a link for U to check out until U can get to the Dr. Just 2 give U an idea on what's going on.
U dont state "How Long" U have had this tailbone pain? Could U have pulled a muscle or just twisted it? Did U fall?
Once U go 2 a Dr...they will most likely do an "X~Ray" & or, "MRI". (Shoot 4 an MRI as an X~Ray will NOT show ALL)
(If U do not have insurance, U can go 2 the ER. They WILL see U & they will "Bill" U, so U will hafta make payment arrangements...if U dont have the money.)

I suffer from chronic back pain & had surgery in 2003. My diagnosis..."Spondylolisthesis". (my L~5 Disc was cracked) My surgery was a TOTAL failure & I now suffer from "Failed Back Syndrome". Had surgery 2 not hafta take pain meds & now hafta take 4 the rest of my life.
If it is shown that U NEED surgery, PLZ take caution...know that there is a 50/50 % chance of the surgery working. (Know your options)
My wonderful (sarcasm), "Left Eye Twitching" (seriously) Dr failed 2 tell me about the risk of "Scar Tissue" & the need 4 "Physical Therapy" following my surgery, I now have scar tissue that surrounds my "Thecal Sac"! Had I known about physical therapy & done it, it would have "Softened" my scar tissue & wouldnt be pressing on BOTH sides of my thecal sac! (took the CABLE dude 2 tell me this!) This causing TREMENDOUS pain. The Thecal Sac, in case U dont know, is the center of your spine...where the "Nerves" & "Fluids" are contained.
I STILL have 3 "Bulging" discs' & 3 "Torn" discs' along with a 1/4" size of the "Spondylolisthesis" remaining! Exactly what the Dr was supposed 2 FIX! Not 2 mention the "Arthritis" I now have in my lower back!

PS: There is a new "Laser" surgery out there.
FEEL BETTER SOON!

without knowing your complete medical history, it is hard to say, However, you should tell your family physician when the pain began, and anything you were doing that could have caused trauma to the area. The physician will probably order an x-ray, MRI or possible a nuclear medicine bone scan if pain persists. Good luck and God Bless

Could be what they call Coccydynia, or a Spur, calcium deposits, maybe a cracked or bruised tail bone, maybe it is grown crooked over time. You must get an X-ray to be sure.

take one cup of Horsetail herb tea daily with 2-3 cups of Nettle tea
or it could mean a toxic liver, see your health food store or herbalist for a liver cleanse
1-2 spoons of Epsoms Salts in lemon water may take the pain away, but you may have to stay close to a toilet!
