That is something I do not understand GitEmGang, I have a neighbor that thinks dogs are skinny when they are the right weight and when I tell her that fat is unhealthy she argues with me and says I do not know what I am talking about. I have even tried telling her that it is just as cruel to have an obese dog as well as starving the dog.
I do not know why people get dogs and never teach them the proper ways and let them run wild, continue chewing things, etc, etc, etc. BUT........... these same people complain the dog us unruly after it grows up from being a pup, well, they need taught as a puppy instead of spoiling it and letting them get away with everything.

I don't think they actually WANT them fat, it's just that the dog eventually gets that way from being spoiled! People tend to spoil their dogs, as they would their children.

Too many folks treat their dogs as though they're human babies. Some of the most misbehaved dogs I've ever seen are small "foo-foo" dogs whose owners can't get it through their heads that they're coddling a different species.

people tend to equate their pets to humans and therefore feed them human foods. some go to the extent of preparing meals (human meals) for their dogs to ensure they are eating a variety of different foods - much to the detriment of the dogs digestive system. Dog food products are specifically designed for the dogs nutritional needs, but as long as we treat our pets like people, they're going to get fat and lazy and malnourished.
Ever notice that dogs often die of "human" diseases (diabetes, heart disease, cancer)?.. there's a reason for that - they're eating human foods.
