during my college days as a an undergraduate in agriculture college there was a exam time and i had not studied for whatever reasons and i had this question which you have asked. i had the habit of writing answers to all questions so i wrote that (1) sweet potato is sweet while potato is not sweet. (2) sweet potato is pink in colour while potato was brown 3) sweet potato was longish while potato was round 4) sweet potato can be eaten raw while potato cannot. i have 10 more stupid answers but the the question was for 4 marks so i gave 4 answers. you guess what must have happened to me.
jokes aside--- actually sweet potato is a root where carbohydrates are stored by the plant while potato is a stem they are both different but both have one thing in common - rich in carbohydrates, means weight gain

Sweet potatoes are low in GI, low in fat, and low in calories.
Potatoes have a high GI because of the starch, low in fat, and relatively low in calories, not as low as sweet potatoes though.
Try and substitute potatoes for sweet potatoes where you can, but don't be scared ot potatoes, they aren't that bad!
My favourite recipe is potato and sweet potato cubes with lemon and thyme dressing baked in the oven. Delicious and extremely low in fat!

Sweet Potatoes -taste sweeter and they moist and fleshy too. Plain potato has no particular taste, blander than sweet. The calories present for raw potato - 70 calories (the calories can increase depending in how it was cooked. Oil adds more calories)
and sweet potato has 90 calories. This for every 100 grams.

They are basically the same, the potato is a great source of potassium and is fat free.....The sweet poato is a tad bit sweeter than tha regular potato. You can bake, boil, and fry both. The sweet potato take a little longer to fry than the regular, but worth the wait.
