Every dog is different - since we don't judge the breed, just the actions. (I have dobermans) I have seen Golden ret and Labs that were aggressive and would bite, but it's not that often. Every dog has his own threshold - one of my dobes now is very protective, but only in threatening situations, my other is very loveable and would probably hide if threatened. But a scared dog can become a dangerous dog very quickly. You might be surprised how protective your golden retreiver is when push comes to shove if it comes down to her family.

Not sure exactly why you are asking. If a golden bites you may want to check for head injuries or tumors something like that.
Abuse can do it, i bought a pup and the breeder used to shake him real hard by the scruff, he got away from me one day and I grabbed his scruff cause that's what I got a hold of, he bit me. It didn't take much to figure it out and I never grabbed him that way again. He was ok with scratching and rubbing the area.
You can train any dog as a protection dog, but I would recommend going to a professional.

Stepping on a dog's tail (accidentally, of course) will sometimes induce an ordinarily peaceful dog to bite. Been there, done that. That help? And why the question?

maybe yelling, my old dog hated newspapers. he was sooo sweet until you brought out the newspaper then he would get mean. i guess each his own. i mean what would it take to put you over the edge? its just like people, some just have a shorter temper than others.

Normally they wont bite unless you abuse them or train them to be a dog fighter which is highly illegal. Or you do something to them that they don't like.

I think anyone who wants to push a dog that far deserves to be bitten

you can get it trained. might be a bit expensive, but it will be worth it if you do get robbed. it's like having insurance. it might cost a lil bit, but it's better off having it than not having it.
