I have been on Lexapro for about 5 weeks, 10mg. At first after a week, I started feeling good, then it faded away. Now I am crying again, don't have energy, still having anxiety. My doc also put me on Klonopin to sleep, which does nothing but make me sick to my stomach. How long should I go before realizing this med is not for me??? Because it did work for awhile there, then poof.

Typically Lexapro takes about 2 - 4 weeks to kick in, but like all reuptake inhibitors, you should give it a good month before you call it quits. As far as the medication working initially and then becoming ineffective, it's not uncommon for reuptake inhibitors to stop working sporadically, where you may have to find a different SSRI that will work effectively with your serotonin.

Klonopin, which is a benzo - are not typically used to treat insomnia, as they become very addictive and have harsh withdrawal effects. For insomnia, if you're looking to take something non-addictive, ask your doctor about Trazodone. I take 75 mg when I can't sleep and it does the trick, no side effects.

I'm not sure what you've been diagnosed with, but Lexapro seems to work really well for mild to moderate depression. Confirm all of these side effects with your Dr. ask him/her about reuptake failure and discuss other options for treating your insomnia. You certainly don't want to take something that makes you feel ill.

Hope this helps and hope you feel better.

The key to getting off Lexapro is to get off it very slowly. It took a couple of weeks for the Lexapro to arrive complete efficiency on your method - and the identical has to occur while you desire to get off it. Of path, preventing bloodless turkey could be very now not quality and also you surely do not desire to try this! To get off Lexapro, wean your self to the bottom dose (5mg). If you are on 20mg, reduce them in part (to get 10mg) and take the ones for a pair weeks, then pass to the 5mg capsules. After you will have been at the 5mg capsules for a pair weeks, reduce them in part and take the part-capsules for a pair weeks, then take the part-capsules each and every different day for a pair weeks, then you'll give up. This will slowly dispose of the Lexapro out of your method, and aid do away with the likelihood of withdrawal disorders. If you desired so as to add one more step on the finish, and take the part-capsules each and every 3rd day for every week, you'll - however I do not suppose it is imperative. I desire you the first-class of good fortune :-) Paul.

Lexapro isn't a really good anti-depressent... it is mainly for anti-anxiety. I would talk to your doctor if I was you... i take Lexapro for my anxiety and something else for depression.
