I dont wish to advertise for money I just would love to place him in a good family home so he will be well looked after but I do not have much time. Help! Sensible advise please as our dog means alot to me & my kids

Please be very, very careful if you decide you have no alternative to rehoming a member of your family. This breed ends up in fighting circles all too easily. In many areas Staffys are stolen to use as fighting dogs, far easier to pretend to be giving a good home to a pet. Is it not possible to take your pet with you?

The RSPCA is probably your best bet if you are really concerned about what happens to him/her afterwards. The RSPCA will vet potential new owners and hopefully ensure that your staffy gets a loving new home. The downside for them though is that they have limits on how long they will keep an animal if they cannot re-home it before putting it down.
The trouble with your breed of dog is that sometimes they can attract undesirable owners as they look 'hard' when decked out in all the studded accessories which people can get for them, so if you are going to advertise privately, then you will have to take the time to find out if the new owners are 'for real'.
How about putting up adverts at local veterinary surgeries? More often than not they will have a noticeboard in the waiting areas. At least then you would be advertising to the sort of people who actually can be bothered to take the dog to the vets if it is unwell; can only be a good thing?

Why do you have to say bye to your dog? Because you're moving? Oh right - you take your children and furniture but not your dog - how does that work? Sounds like an excuse to me I'm afraid. I would take my dog with me (and my cats and fish!) if we were moving. Do you really need to get rid of your beloved pet? Your children will miss him so much, plus, children can get a bit unsettled during a move, and having their pet around could really help them settle in their new home.

The RSPCA will be able to help you rehome you dog. They check and carry out home visits before animals are placed with people so they can be sure that they will treat it well. It must be heartbreaking for you and your kids. Contact the RSPCA today and see what they can do to help you. Good luck x x

Look for a rescue group in your area for your dogs breed. They often can find them a foster home until a permanent home can be found. Its much better than taking them to the humane society or the pound where he would be kept in a cage.

contact staffie rescue. They are best placed to rehome your dog with someone who will not end up breeding from it or using it for fighting. Sadly, rescue kennels all over the UK are crammed with unwanted staffies. For some reason, they are one of the most likely breeds to end up unwanted and end up in rescue.
I would go with breed rescues rather than the RSPCA who are all too quick to put dogs to sleep especially bull breeds.

As well as the RSPCA there's also the Dogs Trust. They don't put healthy dogs down; but that means they have a waiting list so may not be able to take your dog straight away. So call them as soon as possible.

Please don't place him with the RSPCA,have you been in touch with his breeder,if they are reputable breeders they should take him back,if not get in touch with Stafford rescue and they should be able to help you.

hi do you have any family or friends that would rehome him for you that way you will still get to see your dog,if this not possiable you can call the rspca and they will halp you out to find a good home for your pet.as rspca do all the checks on rehoming pets,so you will no your dog has gone to a nice place to live,hope everythink works out for you

you need to find a staffie rescue and make sure your gorgeous dog doesnt end up with the wrong type of people
i know theres a staffie rescue in Edinburgh , ive helped reunite a few wandering staffies with their owners through her - not sure where you are though
