Okay, suppose a researcher takes a new born baby and raises it for years in a deserted area with no television or internet and the only thing it was exposed to was nature and secular education. Is it possible that the child will come up with an imaginary friend or start to think that perhaps there was a creator?

Would it be wrong to do this experiment?

Yes it'd be wrong to do the experiment for the childs sake. To grow into a 'normal' adult a child need socialisation!!!

But no I dont think just one person alone would come up with a religion that involved an unseen being... maybe an imaginary friend but a lot of kids have them!

I think the same thing about the lab rats that we test with. They are in that cage all by themselves. I always wonder if they create imaginary concepts to help them better explain why they are there.

I think the experiment is an excellent idea. 10 to 1 says the child does create a delusion.

Yeah - it would be wrong.

And maybe even the educators would be considered God.

we need a sci fi writter to go through all the permutations.
Is L. Ron Hubbard still around to write the book?

`Yes I think he'll start to think there was a creator, though he may not come up with his own religion!!. His zeal for life, and love for the beautiful things around him will eventually make him think there is a creator. He will try to reproduce without success some of the things he marvels at. He will wonder " I can't, then who did it?"

Yes it would be wrong, why deny it all the genuine laughter, that comes along with our own stupidity.
