I already told him nicely many times but he keeps doing it. I don't have the energy to keep fighting it. Then I let him without complaining, it makes me lose interest. I care for him a lot. Does he know? Is he manipulating me?

Yes he is manipulating you. If you don't like what he is doing and he continues to do it then leave. A leopard never changes his spots, if you know what I mean. He will never change. Good luck
