Friendly Hello,
Oh yes, I have heard of this and dealt with it myself. I would recommend that when you put your puppies food down remove the cat food. The cat for is not all that good for your puppy. Puppies tend to have a more sensitive digestive tract and if used long term can be somewhat harmful to your new family member. I am not sure what kind of puppy food you are feeding. So If you would like to email me directly. Maybe we can come up with some helpful ideas for you to try so you dont have to remove your cat food when it is time for the puppy to eat. bullmastiffpuppiesakc@yahoo.com Blessings, Kelly

Dogs in the wild eat far worse things than a cats week-old food. I don't know how old your puppy is, but if she's more than 3 months old, she should have no serious problems digesting the cat's food. It isn't good for her because it has far too much protein in it - WAY more than dogs need - and that could have a bad effect on her, but the age of the food won't. My advice? Don't leave the cat food down for more than 15 minutes at a time; if the cat doesn't eat it in that amount of time, pick it up and refrigerate it until the next meal. If you don't do this, you'll find that you'll have ants and other pests getting into the cat food!

My dog prefers the cats food over his. Cat food is meater and has more protien. Dogs are omnivoirs like people, cats are true carnovoires. If you try to make a cat vegetarian it will soon die. Make sure your dog gets mostly dog food but nothing wrong with letting him have some cat food.

it will give them diarrhea, cat food is not formulated for dogs, not in protein content, fat content, vitamins, minerals..all that stuff. You can feed it to your dog in an emergency if you are out of dog food but it is not good as a full time diet- ask your vet, they can tell you what health risks are associated with this.
