Most Jews and Muslims cut their beards or shave. Some Jewish, Muslim and Christian groups think that cutting the beard is against God's will. It's probably more to do with fashion and cultural identity than religion.

Jewish men grow beard because of tradition and to certain extend, because of religious teaching.

Some Muslim men grow beard because of they want to follow the Prophet Muhammad who also grow beard. It should be noted that growing beard is not compulsory for Muslim men.

Growing beard for Muslims is only considered as following the "sunnah" (the Prophet's tradition) and not obligatory.

The Muslims grow beard is not because they copy the practice from Jews. From cultural perspective, it has been a long time tradition of the Arabs to grow beard.

Shaving one's face with a razor and reducing the hair in front of the ears is prohibitted by potential of Jewish regulation. Observant Jewish adult adult males do no longer shave or decrease that area of their hair. it is why non secular Jews have beards and component curls. i'm no longer Muslim, so i'm no longer able to talk for why they have beards, yet there is in all probability a Quranic prohibition against reducing the beard.

Muslim men sometimes keep the beard due to culture or personal preference. But some grow it in accordance with the instruction of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He told the Muslim men grow their beards and trim the moustaches short.

Muhammad (peace be upon him) ordered us to trim the moustache closely and spare the beard" says Ibn Umar.
- Muslim, Hadith no. 449

Muhammad (peace be upon him) said "Trim closely the moustache, and let the beard flow (Grow)."
- Narrated Ibn Umar (R.A.) in Muslim, Hadith no. 498

And there are many more on the source I quoted from.

The covenant of the male and the beard in Judaism and Islam dates back to the same time that God made the covenant of the circumcision. His commandement was to "Trim not the corners of thy beard as a testament to my love for you." This is one of the many things outlined in the Torah (Mosaic Laws part of the Old Testament), as well as the early parts of the Koran. This is a test of faith to God by signifying that a man may grow his beard without problems.
