They are tough on SOME 'crimes' like little old ladies who can't pay their council tax bills etc!!....they try to be tough on others....like taking a retailler to court (Costing over 1/4 million of tax payers money) because he was selling the wrong colour 'jelly babies'!! and of course spending over 5 times that much trying to stop us having free speech in this country!!... So if you look at that side, the answer is a resounding YES!!! However, if you then look at the otherside of the coin...Murderers, rapists, terrorists etc!! they can't do enough to help them, they get cushy cells, AND early release to commit again!! Is that justice??? According to 'Blair and co' yes!!

They're tough on the wrong things. If you're caught stealing money from a large company I'll bet that you serve more time than being a child molester.
Joe Public still wants the thief and the mugger punished but there are other crimes that have a longer and more damaging effect on the victim such as molestation and rape.

I want that the PM were to be for my area plagued through such an incident. an in intensity pal, a relative, a member of his inner family individuals circle. Then and could be only then he would possibly commence to ever so somewhat see what some thing human beings could see and submit with in this land of ours. that could not likely to ensue i wager, yet imagine about taking the licenses of all trashy nook shops that promote drink to the international locations children and little ones. Take a mans agency and also you'll damage him....The mere concept-about a license being provoked would decrease the bastards that promote for income. A saddened Britannia

No where near tough enough in my opinion bring back the birch, public fkogging and humiliation, castration 4 pervs.life should mean life, boot camps would be great, but not run by lillylivered liberals, and soft option merchants. Tell you what why not bring our lads back home from the middle east and let them teach the little sh*ts some respect.

I don't think they are hard enough. Unfortunately when sentences get increased this will only apply to England and Wales and not Scotland. Life MUST mean life - none of this fifteen years - if you are sentenced to life for a crime you should be in prison until you die.

Labour is too soft on crime and tough on victims of crime. One day they might take their snouts out of the trough long enough to realise what is going on.

I don't see how they are being too tough, it looks like they are not tough enough with crime rates at an all time high the message is clearly not getting through.

No I dont think so, promise this and promise that.
You've only gotta take a look at the prisons, they can't house all these new crims and are having to rely on the police station cells.
Huh doesn't make sense does it?
