I believe this was due to the loss of children after becoming pregnant and more of a survival of the human race. Now I think it's just people trying to hold on to religion. I think it is a lot different now since women are not marrying just to have child after child. Be safe and make your own decision when it comes to your body and your relationship. I am sure God would want a couple to be happy together rather than miserable with an unhappy marriage and 6 screaming kids.

Neither birth control or a condom is a sin. If you feel you have to have sex, God would rather you be safe from sexually transmitted diseases or bringing a life into this world when you aren't ready. Actually, God would prefer you to wait until marriage. My religion doesn't teach that contraceptives are a sin. If you strongly don't agree with your churches beliefs, I would find another church. Good luck!

Once upon a time the 'scientists of the church' (see, uneducated theologans of the Dark Ages) thought that men were only given a finite amount of semen, so to masturbate or 'waste' it was deemed a sin...
Fast forward...
Modern Day, it is about money. People are usually the same religion as thair parents... if they outlaw birth control, their membership has more children, therefor more paritioners, therefor more people to put money in the collection plate on sunday.
Just like government, it all comes down to money.
Think for yourself... anything that tries to get between you and God is evil, manmade and just a destraction to your faith.

Only the RC church considers it a sin. Most Christians have no problem with prophylactics.

It is not a sin and scripturally there is no basis that excludes christians from using contraception. It is instead only a church teaching not a bible teaching. But it is part of the catholic standing that the pleasure of sex is sinful when sex is in fact a gift from God for loving man and women bound in the sanctity of marriage.

That's a big, sweeping generalization; one which you have conveniently neglected to support with my old friends, Fact and Logic. I happen to go to your average, run-of-the-mill, non-denominational Christian church, and they do NOT denounce the use of condoms. Ever. At all. Neither do the majority of mainstream Evangelical churches. Your accusation, is wrong. Take your anti-Christian agenda elsewhere.

some religions believe that the act of sex is to be done for one thing.....to have babies.....they forget about the part of sex to show your partner the physical love, the show of affection for each other.....and i do agree ...it is no different than the rhythm method, or having a sterile partner......

Who told you it is a sin? Don't forget the "Church" is way behind the times. Speaking of sin what about all those priests Hmm? Last time I checked child molestation is a sin.
