A born again christian is a member of a Protestant church that is usually a fundamentalist church. They feel that the only way to have a personal relationship with Jesus is to ask him to come into their hearts in a semi-formal method often in church when they have what is called an "altar call". The person repents of their past sins, accepts Jesus as their personal savior and promises to amend their life and follow Jesus from that moment on. Now for the dark side. They also tend to think that the only true Christian is a "born again" Christian.
Other committed Christians follow a different POV. We follow Jesus, repent of our sins and amend our lives too. We make Jesus the center of our life. What we don't' do is annoy the hell (literally or figuratively) out of non-believers by trying to "save" them.
Sorry, if this was a bit harsh. But I think it gets the distinction across.

A born again Christian is someone who has repented their sins to God and has accepted Jesus as their saviour and has left their bad past in the past and does not knowingly repeat sins. They have also given thier lives to God. Just a Christian is someone who goes to church and believes in God, but has not repented and totally given their life to God.

"Born again" Christians are obsessed with a verse in John where Jesus is telling a Jewish scholar that one cannot enter heaven without being "born from above" ("born again" in the King James Version). They take this to mean that one has to publically declare their faith in Christ as their savior to be "saved".
Other Christians consider this to be too simplistic and see life as a journey toward salvation in the company of believers. "Born-agains" consider them all to be hellbound.
