i wouldn't leave it in the refrigerator longer than 4 or 5 days. it all depends on the ingredients.
if you're not going to use/eat it all, freeze it. it will be good for 2 to 3 months.

If refrigerated and covered, you can keep it up to 5 days.

it depends if its a ice cream cake then until i spoils but if its a birthday cake less than 2 weeks if its a homemade cake put on a cake dish cover it up and leave it on the counter
