What is the philosophy for tipping cab drivers?

You don't have to tip them--if they do a bad job its your perogative not to tip. Plus they're paid less here where there are tips compared to what they would be paid in other countries that don't tip.

Well Ali, if the cab is clean and doesn't smell like a drunk tank, or if they get you to your destination quickly and safely, I always tip handsomely. Work a day people have a hard enough time without people stiffing them for a job well done.

I tip them more because I just don't want to wait around for change. I just round up to the nearest five dollar amount and tell them to keep the change. For example, if the total is $22.89 I will just give the driver $25.00
