smoking

Really that would all depend on how much smoking or drinking. For example, smoking two cigarettes a day or having two glasses of red wine a day... the cigarettes are bad for your health and cause passive smoking, but the wine may enhance your health. However if you are talking about 20 drinks a day or 20 cigarettes, then clearly alcoholism is worse as it not only can ruin the life of the drinker for also that of the people around them.

Drinking.

I've given up smoking some months ago, and hard as that was, I'm finding it harder to cut out drink, in it's social and antisocial forms. Of course, I don't mean casual or moderate drinking, but the pernicious customs built up over years, or the acute binge drinking once a week. The damage done to the personality of an abusive drinker is really quite frightening.

Just my thoughts as I climb back on the wagon!

The answer is relative,as many have pointed out. Either is bad to excess.
Many have said smoking has no health benefits-but smoking can relieve stress. There is documented proof that smoking can cause harm to others-if not cancer then sinus problems and exacerbation of asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Some spouses have even developed these diseases as a result of exposure to secondhand smoke.
Alcohol in extreme moderation has been shown that it MAY benefit cardiac health, and certainly will not cause harm. Of course, drinking to excess can cause all sorts of harm to you and to others.
So, there isn't a black and white answer to this question-the only absolute safety lies in neither drinking or smoking. But where's the joie de vive in that?

Doing drugs is the WORST; of the listed two, smoking is bad in any amounts; drinking up to 2 glasses of red wine, a beer or a shot of quality Scotch every day or two is actually healthy.

I cant choose which is worse I do both, but I smoke everyday and drink at most once a week. so for me smoking is worse so I guess it just a matter of who is doing it . If you smoke everyday you are probably going to die from it but the same applies to alcohol, but most likely you will not kill someone by smoking, but if you drink too much and drive chances are you will kill someone and allot of drunk drivers can live through the most horrible car wrecks and have to live with it for the rest of their lives

Smoking is far far worse than drinking. Drinking still has some benefits at least. Wine is known to have great health benefits but there are abso no benefits of smoking.

They are both very bad for yourself, and others around you, but smoking would have to be the worst.
