My dog is a very loving pet, but she licks me incessantly. If left alone, she will lick me, get a quick drink and then continue to lick me. It's nothing disturbing (she licks my arms, face, feet, but nothing, um, intimate), but if not for my wife telling her to stop, she won't. Is there anything wrong with this behavior or with her? What can we do to break her of this habit?

As long as she isn't sick i dont see a problem, but if you really want her to stop, YOU should tell her to stop, not your wife. She is comming to you not her. I have read dogs like to lick salt from people's skin, so maybe she is lacking some nutrition and it is a survival thing, but i would go with She is just favoring you because you give her less diciplin. Good Luck.

If you haven't had her poop checked for internal parasites you should. There are some very common ones like Roundworms that she could pass to you. If she eats poop or just steps in it then licks her foot then licks you she could pass it to you. Its not real common but it can happen. My dogs are lickers to so!Just to bring poop each year to your vet when you go for her physical.

It's a sign of possession. She owns you and by licking you she's showing her dominance and that you're her person.

As long as she's obedient and not aggressive, and respects you, it's not a problem. If there are respect issues, I wouldn't permit it.

It'll go away if you stop covering yourself in chocolate and peanut butter, but then, what you do in your private life is your own thing.

Seriously, our dog has a thing for lotions and if anyone comes in wearing a food-type scent like "butter cream" or "sugar cookie", she goes wild; just can't control her "licker".

its ok but you will constantly get slimey. Dogs will often lick areas that are hurt and it will actually help "disinfect" cuts, because their mouths are much cleaner (depending on what they just ate.) But other than that you either taste "salty" from sweating or its pure affection. I guess if you like to be slimey though it would be ok.
