CIGARETTES-
It does not have any plus point, all are only minus point only. It does not relive any stress. It is only a MAYA (Illusion) and makes people addicted to that without any intoxication even. Only regular smokers feel stressed with out smoking. They also feel depressed when they try to stop smoking.
Tobacco smoke contains nicotine, an addictive stimulant which temporarily improves alertness and memory, but also forms a strong physical and psychological chemical dependence (addiction). Medical research has determined that smoking is a major contributing factor towards many health problems, particularly lung cancer (which has a survival percentage of 16.4%), emphysema, and cardiovascular disease. Many countries regulate or restrict tobacco sales and advertising and require warnings be placed prominently on the product packaging. Many municipalities now ban smoking in a variety of public venues due to health impacts on non-smokers breathing second-hand smoke.
Smoking leads to various cronic and uncurable disease like CANCER, Heart and Lung diseases etc.etc.

I quit after 25 years of at least 1.5 packs a day, and I will sign in blood that not one cig ever eased any stress. It felt good, but not against stress. The tales of addiction - judging by my case and a few more people who quit cold-turkey, no patches, no crap, are obviously a lame excuse for those who can't quit. Now, scientifically speaking, nicotine will sharpen your perception and even give you a little high, so that might be the anti-stress factor you've heard about. And, in stress, you light a cigarette and you give yourself a 5 minute break to regroup, so it looks like anti-stress, too. But smoking felt good to me, and people drink booze knowing that it's harmful, people smoke pot knowing it's bad, people take drugs... eat junk food... smoking is just one of the stupid and harmful pleasures people love.

Don't do it! My partner quit smoking last year after 30 years and his withdrawal was awful. He did it though and I am more proud of him than I could say in words. (He is in the minority though - not many people can quit cold turkey after 30 years with no help). Smoking actually causes stress by increasing your adrenalin levels (you go into the 'fight or flight' mode) and you end up pushing stored fats and sugar into your blood stream. It actually does the opposite of what you think it does! You end up more stressed. You don't want to end up with cancer/heart disease/fertility problems/Emphysema etc. - Not worth it at all. Exercise, meditate, listen to music, eat a balanced diet etc. Perhaps talk things over with a trusted friend? It sounds like you've had a lot to deal with recently. There are better ways to deal with stress than smoking! Never, ever ever smoke. Best of luck.

cigarettes contain nicotine which has an effect on the brain. gives you a little buzz. But then you get addicted. and you waste money and time on cigarettes causeing more stress. it is a quick fix that causes more problems than it fixes.

I don't know why it relieves my stress, but it does for me. I will admit, I am addicted to the nicotene, but I have no plans to quit. I will be smoking til the day I die.

No, people who are addicted to nicatine smoke cigarettes and that calms there addiction. aka it sometimes looks like it is reliving stress. there is nothing in them that relives stress at all.

nicotine actually does tend to act as a drug to calm a nervous person , but they have to replenish it very often, and like other stronger drugs as time goes along it takes more and more nicotine to get the same effect, its why its so terribly addicting.
