Hey, there was a zen-buddhist story for this...
edit: well, I looked for it, but didn't have time to sift through it all over again.
Anyway, an old monk and a young monk were travelling together, and along the way, they met a family with a cart-load of stuff. They were moving, and wanted to know if the people in the town they (the monks) were coming from were nice.
"Well," said the old monk, "What were the people like in the town you're coming from?"
The man, in glowing terms, described how wonderful the people were, how kind and generous they were.
"Well," said the old monk again, "That's the sort of people that are in that town back there."
Happily, the family continued on, intent on settling down.
Not long after, the two again met a cart-load of people and things, and the same question was posed, and the old monk asked again, "Well, what were the people like in the town you came from?"
The man, this time, could only complain and grouse about how terrible the people were in that town.
"Well," said the old monk, "That is the kind of people in the town you are headed for."
I'm sure there was a punch line to this of some sort, because I remember reading that the young monk asked a question as well, but I think you get the drift of it.

Jack has nothing to do with being a Christian. Truly saved people are not stupid, mean, arrogant, or biggots. That totally is not a Christian. I am sorry you have the perception of Christians. May God Bless

well, not ALL the Christians i've met have been like that. i've actually met some very nice Christian folks (tho they no doubt considered me lost to hell). some of nicest Christians i ever met were some Mormon folks. i was literally lost in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night abandoned by a traveling companion after an argument. those Mormon folks picked me up at the side of the road, took me in, gave me a bed to sleep in, fed me, gave me some decent clothes (the traveling companion stole all my stuff) and even gave me a temporary job to make a little money. they sheltered me for a week and would have let me stay longer if i had wanted. very nice people and they never once preached at me.

God and His Word is not suppose to make sense to you if you have not cryed out to him. Your heart has to hunger for Him. The senses are in the natural part of us. God is spirit. We will not understand Him until we are born again in our spirit. WE ARE SPIRIT.Your mind decieves you. You must listen to your spirit, that is where God talks to us. Religous people and people that love God are 2 different people. Religous people follow a preacher but I follow God, the Holy Ghost in me.

If all the ones you have met are killing everyone then that's not right
Jesus come into the world not to condemn the world , but in order that the world might be saved.
For Jesus is the way and light of the world, Jesus loves you
for Jesus is love

Well we have beans so we know jack climbed the stock, but that is neither here nor there.
If you try to believe in something so absurd and actually pull it off, you get a tingly feeling inside. Kind of like watching a good movie when the hero wins. You get all jacked up, but the movie wasn't real. You "felt" something, but in the end it is meaningless. This is how people "know" god exists.
I like billy's answer, but I always do. There is a god that looks just like you, loves you very much and hates all the same people you hate. it works out pretty well.

THats an unfair bias. Most religious people are nice and kind and want to save people. A few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. And the story of Jack and the beanstalk is not in the bible.

We all blow it time to time, who was egging him on for him to give them the bird?
If someone insulted me, who knows how I'd would react? I'm not perfect and I need a savior.
Jack and the beanstalk isn't in the Bible, obviously you've never read it and don't care what it says.

Wow, what planet do you live on? On my planet, I've not met such religious people like that at all.
I'm religious and I don't think you have to believe as I do to get to heaven. I'm totally tolerant of all religions and Atheism. I'm not mean, I believe in peace and non-violence. I'm not stupid either.
