No, I don't want to ban it. I support freedom of religion. I'd just like people to stop legislating religious dogma since I'm also a big fan of separation of church and state (so is the US constitution).

Of course John is going to say that. All three monotheistic religions forbid homosexuality.

No-this whole "spirituality" thing is yet another trend. I really like Elton Jon but he's obviously trying to ban what he feels is disapproving of his lifestyle. In banning religion he won't make his lifestyle more acceptable to people. I respect his lifestyle and I'm Christian so why doesn't he respect mine and stop making offensive comments regarding organized religion.

Ban what religion? All of them? What is a religion? Can you define it legally? Do we start banning other things? I myself do not belong to a church and am suspicious of most religions but I thought we had a free society. Or is that JUST for people who DON'T believe in God?

Yes.
Many artists have said that.
It is because religion leads to fanatism and "blind faith".
It is better to believe in God without any religion or with a "universal religion", because many different ones always spark the controversy between the nations.
But again,
the many different religions are a measure of how tolerant people can be against other religions.

Doesn't matter if I agree or not. It can't be done. You can't "ban" something over which you have no control. Maybe you can ban the practice of religious behaviors and meetings, etc., but you can't ban religion anymore than you can ban love or hate.

Yes and no. Some religious people are hateful lemmings and others are tolerant kind generous people. He is as bad as the people that condemn him when he generalizes.

If we want to ban anything we become as bad as the hatemongers.

I think Elton John is ignoring many fundamental rights... such as free of religion and freedom of speech.

PS. he needs help with that temper.
