don't even try to open it !!!that's a probably a virus, run a security program as soon as possible and if you don't have one go to www.mcafee.com.listen some viruses the capacity to even fool all those spy programs you have use,if the problem still there, its kind of time released (in any determinate moment it will show, try my suggestion ,an if is not a virus ,the software have the properties to erase that file(its free to try)

Is there an extention on the file?
I suggest you right clk the file and do Properties to try to learn more about the file. Then re-post the question with more info.

Do you have an anti-virus program on your computer? If so, right clk the file and run your anti-virus program on it.
You also may want to run a SpyWare program on your system. Go to; www.download.com and get the free AdAware program.

This may be a temprorarly generated file remaining from an intallation or some work.

When you try to delete it if it gives a sharing violation error every time, start windows in safe mode then delete.

Start computer in safe mode and try to delete it.

If you are failed to do it, Download XP processor explorer

and find the unwanted application which is linked to this file ..
