It offends the Biblical literalists if you say the universe is more than 6009 years old. The Big Bang places the age of the universe at 13.7 billion years, give of take. Suspend literal reading and it's pretty obvious.

the needed theory is one in all 2 issues...that each one the count number interior the universe replaced into large condensed to the point the position it exploded outward, forming the universe. for sure, in accordance to the idea, the universe continues to be increasing and cooling from that adventure. OR... That there replaced into no longer something there, which exploded and became something. Now, this isn't an attack on creationism, or the large bang theory, yet listed the following are the themes with each... a million. you've the large bang, and the count number replaced into there firstly. The question is...the position did the count number come from? answer...it replaced into continually there. you will see that the priority with that...entropy will inform you it really is a unsuitable theory. 2. you've the large bang, and the count number that wasn't there in the previous is now. the priority? something got here from no longer something, which defies the needed regulations of the universe, properly down the straightforward E = MC squared. no longer something, plus or circumstances no longer something, continues to be no longer something. 3. you've the Creationist theory, which says God created the universe, even if through a vast Bang or through a extra literal version of the creation tale.. This solves the priority of the position the count number got here from, yet creates yet another...the position did God come from? answer...he replaced into continually there, being "a similar the day in the previous at present, at present, and always." So, as you will see that, there are problems with all 3 theories. it absolutely relies upon, fairly, on which one you've faith in. :D

I have no idea. Probably because it's not mentioned specifically in the Bible. Then again, neither are hairspray or Speedo's.
By the way, Doug is mistaken about what a theory is. A scientific theory is NOT "a guess based on speculation". In scientific terms, a theory implies that something has been proven and is generally accepted as being true.
Here is what each term (law, hypotheses, theory) means to a scientist:
Law: This is a statement of fact meant to explain, in concise terms, an action or set of actions. It is generally accepted to be true and universal, and can sometimes be expressed in terms of a single mathematical equation. Scientific laws are similar to mathematical postulates. They don’t really need any complex external proofs; they are accepted at face value based upon the fact that they have always been observed to be true.
Hypothesis: This is an educated guess based upon observation. It is a rational explanation of a single event or phenomenon based upon what is observed, but which has not been proved. Most hypotheses can be supported or refuted by experimentation or continued observation.
Theory: A theory is more like a scientific law than a hypothesis. A theory is an explanation of a set of related observations or events based upon proven hypotheses and verified multiple times by detached groups of researchers. One scientist cannot create a theory; he can only create a hypothesis.
In general, both a scientific theory and a scientific law are accepted to be true by the scientific community as a whole. Both are used to make predictions of events. Both are used to advance technology.
The biggest difference between a law and a theory is that a theory is much more complex and dynamic. A law governs a single action, whereas a theory explains a whole series of related phenomena.

While the big bang is not specifically about biological evolution it is a cosmic view of evolution. The Bible states that the world and the heavens had a beginning and that the heavens are expanding which is similar to the big bang theory. However, the Bible is very clear that God spoke the heavens (the firmament) into existence as well as the earth on the 2nd and 3rd days of creation. We get the word "universe" which means one verse to describe the creation event by God speaking.
The big bang has many made up steps to it which are pure fabrication. Explosions do not lead to order and coordinated function as we see in our universe. There are too many exact variables that are established for earth to be able to sustain life to be based on random circumstances. Design of the universe screams out to its observers. Biological evolution joins up with the big bang and so they are really inseparable. The big bang is really a supernatural view that some scientists accept while denying the supernatural Genesis account. It really comes down to a clash of religious viewpoints since the past formation of the universe was not subject to observable scientific observation by mankind.

The big bang is easily fit into "in the begining God made"
(Though I for one am part of the young earth Theory (6000 years))
Though being a scientist - the big bang is losing more and more credibility - within a generation, it will fall completely. Though there is no current better theory, String Theory has it's own problems.
As for the next 10 years, it seams like the big bang will stick. It is as close to the truth about God as science can get

I don't understand it either. I usually use the big bang theory to say evolution is just another religion like christianity. and to the previos answer how did stuff get here in the first place if there was no creation or bang. Care to explain???

we have progressed so far in the thousands of years of human existence, but even in all that we know now, there's so much more out there , with every generation we keep getting more and more advanced, 30 yrs ago we wouldn't have ever thought we could be communicating like this, 30yr from now who know what people will be communicating with, And we have only in the last century started getting this ability to get so much knowledge, and quickly, there's so much more to learn, and we will be bombarded with it now so much that most human beings cant comprehend this knowledge, and its God he letting man know these things for a reason, I think a really big discovery, or occurrence...something spectacular is going to happen, and a lot of people are going to have their believe system shattered because of this discovery and it will be something scientific......and a lot of people will have to eat crow.....and it will be something that most people of faith will be in awe of, and the unbelievers of before will quickly to talking a different talk......that's my prediction
oh in answer to the big bang, of course it was of God, but 95% of the scientific population want say yes because it will prove the existence of God, And the other 5% know ....but probably wouldn't dare say because of the ostrication

Nobody is under any obligation to accept ANY theory, as a theory by definition, is merely an unproven hypothesis, that is backed up by a few actual facts.

because they seem to think that everything has to come from a biblical explaination. Hell, most of them still won't admit that there really were animals attached to those fossil bones of dinosaurs.
