Both Iran and Nkorea were termed as evil by the Bush Regime. Iran says its developing nuclear technology for energy generation and not wepons, yet America has not ruled out use of force to stop the Iranians though even U.S officials admit that even if the Iranians are developing wepons they will need a few years to do so. On the other hand the North Koreans have been shouting that they have nuclear wepons and defied the world community by conducting a nuclear test but the U.S doesnt talk of force here. Strange because unlike Iran the North Koreans have missiles that can reach U.S shores and going by the record of North Korea in profiliation it cant be ruled out that they wouldnt give this technology to other countries or groups like it gave missile technology to Pakistan. Use of force against Iran which is few years away from the wepon but only sanctions against NKorea which is has a nuclear wepon and is a bigger threat to the U.S and its allies.

The answer is complicated one.
For some strange reason Bush has been intent on invading IRAQ for quite some time now.
Why we are still there when Memos to Tony Blair state clearly that IRAQ is less a threat than IRAN and N.Korea. But then again Tony Blair isnt Prime Minister now is he.

With the elction done and republican party not in absolute power as they were I suspect changes are going to be made, where Bush administration will not be able to get away with as much as he use to.

A war on terror against an enemy we cant see, and a government we dont want to fail, at the expense of American lives...doesnt fly when the reason we were to be in IRAQ in first place was to find the Weapons of Destruction that would allow terrorist to attack U.S. False promise thats been fulfilled with no findings of WMD.

As far as Korea and IRAN. Well N.Korea has begun steps to lead to the 6 Party talks which i dont agree with since N.Korea just teste their bombs, and only now say they are sorry afterthefact they disobeyed the entire world. now they are sorry.
Well they should be punished not given MORE money.
But then you have to consider they in fact have become a nuclear state.
In that, you cant just invade someone with such technological sophistication as they do.
They are a military state -- we would suffer massive causualties should war break out with them.
Not to mention the fact that crazy man would probably be dumb enough to release his bombs on innocent people.

IRAN is an easier target. Thast why we are bullying them, thats why we can bully them,, because they are not as strong militarily as N.Korea.

Both are very dangerous indeed, but if you think its as easy as declaring war -- especially when U.S. is over extended in IRAQ and Afganistan as it is.

With technology as it is today, Im hoping that keeping an eagles eye n N.Korea will be good enough. But I personally believe sanctioning them till they hurt and release their weaponry is th only answer.

But then again I am not in politics

I think this is kinda an ignorant question.
But, hey, only get unignorant by asking questions, so...

The US didn't butt heads with N.Korea because they were threatening us. We needed a middle man, a neutral party to say "Hold on there, kids!"
Without that calming neutral party, all you have is two countries threatening and daring each other. And, pretty soon after, they start pushing the big red buttons.
Something no one wants.
Thus the U.N. stepping in and being our go-between.

As for Iran... Iran has been a threat for more years than can be told. And not just to the USA, but all around the world. Iran has proved that, when thus armed, they will use and supply such arms to the world's enemies (a.k.a. terrorists).
The U.S. has, in general, been the middle man, the go-between for Iran.
I think the US feels a little obligated to rein in Iran's violent side since, in the past, our government has supported Iran's moves.
Why now instead of later when/if they do develop nucular weapons?
A lot harder to take a gun away than to prevent them from getting it.

I am a Baha'i. It is policy to terrorize Baha'is in Iran. They destroy our historical and holly places, evict Baha'is left and right, imprison them for simply learning to read... Well, about the usual deeds of prejudices. And they are getting more and more aggressive.
This is a country that is so used to anilating a people that it's practically everyday business. Even if they intend, at the moment, under this particular reign, not to make weapons, tomorrow could be, and bets are will be, another matter.

It is a complicated issue all around, but, politics usually are.

Anyway, that's my P.O.V.

The Axis of Evil Speech was a major mistake by a rookie President Bush who just could not bring himself to read up on what a statesman President should say and how he should conduct himself. That statement has lead to the strange situation where Iran and N. Korea are playing off each other to make the problems with one be compounded by the other for the United States and the World.
The Speech will go down in history as a case study of bad diplomacy and ineffective statesmanship in world affairs.
Statesmanship is an art form that takes a very highly experienced person with just right temperament and major education to pull off effectively diplomacy.
The Republican Party leading up to the first election of George W. Bush in 2000 had convinced themselves that they needed and had found just the right person in this tough talking charming trickster from New England who was the son of a former President and was the Governor of Texas at that time. What they did not take into consideration was that this Bush was complusive and immature for his age and also had very little relavent experience for the job of President of the United States.
When Bush somehow won the Election for President in 2000, the Republicans had control of all four branches of Government. They and Bush had extordianry power to set and drive the government in the direction it went since 2001.
The Republicans in the Congress seemed to conceed the control and direction of the Government to the President of the United States, Mr. Bush.
It was for the Country a perfect storm, perfect in the since that it was a storm that did no one any good.
The Axis of Evil Speech was the warning shot accross Americans bow. But it went unheeded, and now we find ourselves in a very bad position in the world with our Government given a new mission, to do something right for the United States and her people because Americans are afraid that we have gone to far, and we have alienated to many of our friends with our militaristic behavior and bullying tactics.
The future of America seems to be in the balance for the long future ahead. The man who got us in this position is still the President.

I wish I could give you a definitive answer to your question but the problem is we have the actions of one Presidential administration, and the palpable world reaction. Neither of these takes into account that the actions of this Administration have long been far from popular.

I would expect anyone who ever lived under the rule of a Dictator or Tyrant to unsderstand the nuance. But probably few others will.

First- Pakistan already has weapons of mass destruction and others, second- we can't go into NK..they will pound SK to death in minutes.
A hundred thousand people would die, because NK has an itchy trigger finger and won't hesitate to shoot south.
Thats why.
If we could somehow avert that retaliation away from them, the war would be on.

There are 2 considerable events interior america- the Democratic occasion and the Republican occasion. each and every of those events chooses one candidate to run on the Presidential value ticket. on the 2nd neither occasion has made this determination as yet, yet extremely they're debating approximately who that candidate could be. the two Clinton and Obama attempt to cajole those that they are the acceptable candidate for the Democratic occasion. quickly (early next 365 days) there will be elections (what are spoke of as primaries) in each and every state, held by making use of each and every occasion, to pick their candidate. each and every occasion will carry a prepare next summer to formally declare which individual often is the candidate for each occasion. in the Democratic occasion merely one would be chosen to run for President of america. Then this Democratic candidate will run against the candidate the Republicans chosen (in the comparable way), to verify who will certainly be the President. Obama and Clinton are of the comparable occasion- the Democratic occasion. they'll merely run against one yet another till one in all them (or somebody else) is chosen with the aid of fact the Democratic events Candidate.

I voted for Bush and I can say that this was a poor choice of words for him to say. Axis of Evil was a WWll saying about Hitler and Japan. I think he could come up with a better saying than that. I do belive they are all evil however :-)
