fertilizers is to be spread at a rate of 2 pounds for 600 square feet. how many pounds of fertilizer will be needed for 900 square feet.?

For 600 sq ft , 2 pounds required.

For 1 sq ft (2/600) pounds will be required

Therefore for 900 sq ft , (2/600) * 900 pounds will be reqd

Answer is 3 pounds

900 square feet is 300 more than 600 square feet. Since 2 pounds are needed for 600, 1 pound is needed for 300. Therefore 2 pounds for 600 plus 1 pound for the extra 300 gives you 3 pounds for 900 square feet.
