Yes, it's a psychological disorder, which is usually caused by the person having a very low self-esteem and their need for attention. You have to feel sorry for them really, as they are so insecure that they have to tell one lie after another to make themselves sound interesting. The really bad part though is when they tell lies about other people in order to make themselves look good or even just to make interesting conversation.

It's not a disease though and can be cured if they manage to raise their self-esteem; feel good enough about themselves and their lives so that they don't feel they have to make up lies to sound interesting.

Compulsive liars do exist...

People usually get that way, beginning with low self esteem. They don't feel like they measure up to those around them, so they invent stories to "measure up"...

It is a mental conditioning that can be caused by a large number of things. From child abuse, to bad experiences with others. In school, on the job, in relationships.

The obvious then, is making the person feel better about themselves. In that way, there are fewer reasons to invent truth, since real truth makes them feel even better...

Yes, sure they exist.

I know 2 persons whom i can tell compulsive liers.

Actuallt they are bro (29 yrs old) and sis.(30 yrs old)

The sister used to lie so many things, for example when she resigned from her company, she informed anyone that she is going to US, as most of her colleagues are going to US when they are leaving the company. She was going to SAUDi that time. She even managed to send Maryland, USA postcards to her colleagues. She even lied to her friends that she has a car. She even stole money to justifies her lies.

The bro, on the other hand is worst. For example, he lied that the reason why he did not come for home for 2 days was that his friend had committed suicide.

yeap, they exist alright. I reckon there is a place where they can get help, maybe there is a complusive liers anonomys meeting. people say "I will not drink today", in A.A.. I guess they can say "I will not lie today". Work the 12 steps they have in A.A.,just replace the word alcohol with the word lie, lyer,etc.....The first step would be,"Admitted that I was powerless over lying, that my life had become unmanagable. It is a start.

they do exist and no definite cure is know at this time. Perhaps some physical beatings may shock him out of it. Or Perhaps not.

This is a disease where the afflicted no longer can distinguish or understand the value of speaking the truth.in the first place.

No way, compulsive lying is totally untrue! I'll fly you over to my palace on the Riviera and we can sit on my 150 ft. yacht and hang out with Leo DiCaprio and Bob Deniro and we'll chat about it some time! Yeah, that's the ticket...
