my dog bundy is 13 and about a year ago she started licking the carpet and wooden floors. I think it maybe a symptom of anxiety or depresion. Any insights and possible cures would be greatly aprecciated.

My dog licks the floor when her tummy is upset. Does your dog also eat the grass when you take her outside? If so, you might want to look into her diet or things she might be eating around the house that could be causing her stomach to be upset. Turns out my dog was getting at the drip pan under our Foreman grill and licking out all the run-off fat!

I would suggest adding a daily vitamin made for dogs and see if it helps. I think it would take a few weeks.

It could be stress, was there something significant that has happened to her or around her about a year ago?

Talk to your vet, if it's gone on this long your vet needs to check her out.

You could spray some bitter apple for licking or chewing, but it sounds like you'd have to spray your entire floor!

Good luck!

It is from stress. have a look at the whites of her eyes just above the pupil. if they are starting to get bloodshot then that is a sign of being tired and stress, the redder the whites are the more stressed out your dog is. It can also be related to pain as well. take her to a vet.
