Hi there! My cats climb the tree, too. The water bottle works, but only if you catch them before they get up into it. Otherwise, the water scares them and they end up knocking the tree over. I have also learned over the years to use unbreakable ornaments and NEVER use tinsel. Tinsel can kill them if they eat it! My problem this year will be keeping my 14 month old son and our 6 month old puppy out of the tree. I think the cats will be the least of my problems! LOL Good luck to you and Merry Christmas!!

We have 6 cats, make a heavy base for the tree using an old cast iron stand and anchor it to a square piece of plywood and from each corner of the board run a wire from the board to the trunk of the tree to stabilize it. If that is not good enough anchor it to a wall. That way they can't knock it over. At least you won't have to clean up that mess every morning. While you ar awake it is a good idea to keep a spray bottle around with water whenever they think of getting near it spray them. They will be a bit freaked out but will eventually get tired of being sprayed. Keep the tinsel away from the cats too that is not a fun thing to deal with coming out of either end.

How old is your cat? When they were younger, my cats used to get into the tree before we put the decorations up. We would take them out of it if we caught them in it, or told them NO! in a stern voice before they got in. You could try that, OR leave the tree up for a few days without decorations and let them get used to this "new" thing.
Now my cats don't bother the tree (other than batting at a decoration hanging off the bottom). But my friend's cats NEVER stopped getting into the tree. Sometimes there is nothing to do.

Spray the tree with a product exceedingly made for animals inquisitive approximately issues they might desire to not get into. It does not have a smell, so possible smell the pine heady scent. however the cat will come across the "off the tree, buddy" heady scent. i don't comprehend the call of the product so I won't misinform you yet, you should purchase it at any super puppy keep. solid success!

One of my cats does the same thing, she climbs the tree like a pro! I have simply been keeping an eye on her when she's near it. If she attempts to climb, I stomp my feet, clap my hands, and say no to scare her off. But if anyone else out there has a better plan do share.

Yes don't put up a tree...LOL......Cat's are natural climbers so they like the decorations and if they find birds in the tree forget it....you will never get them out :)

The squirt gun thing usually works although with electricity its not wise...also make sure they dont eat the needles.
just try and keep it away from the tree when you see it going near.

Try squirting it with a squirt gun or spray bottle with water in it they hate that and it really works.
