Do they refuse to go back to their countries of origin because they will be labeled as a traitor in those countries? Or are they not being allowed back into those countries? Why would they stay in the USA if they have no future; no one will hire them, they can't get housing, welfare, medicaid, etc? What makes them stay here?

Midcentury - I know I'm not the 'all knowing' but you yourself just said 'necessity is the mother of invention'. So, they need to invent a new way to survive in their own country instead of slithering across our borders and sucking up the taxpaid assistance we paid through our hard work and TAXES. Our ancestors came here legally, and, without handouts, used their strength, intelligence and ingenuity to make this country into what it is today by creating a government, voting, passing laws (like the immigration law), fighting for our rights and our freedoms. Illegal immigrants don't possess those commendable, honorable characterisitcs. If they did, they wouldn't be here, they would be in their own countries, fighting to make a difference THERE. They will never be accepted in the USA and most likely not in their countries of origin. They are 'people without a country', ostracized.

If the government would stop the handouts, people would stop renting housing to them, and stop hiring them to do American jobs they wouldn't stay. Most of them are here looking for a free ride and ignoring our laws.

No, of course not. The Mexicans, who are the large majority of them, even had special polling stations set up for them just over the border by the Mexican government to make voting in the last Mexican election more convenient.

They send billions and billions in remittances back each year. They have a country all right. It just isn't this one.

No, they are citizens of the countries they were born in. Most of them from Mexico and Central America are treated as HEROES when they return home! They stay here because they DO get hired and they DO get housing, welfare and medicaid. THAT'S WHAT MAKES THEM STAY! Don't feel sorry for them! They are getting the best of both worlds - they get to work here tax-free and send money home, then get a free trip home (deportation), have a nice visit at home and then return to the USA to do it all again. They LOVE it!

this finished concern is being spun as a rally for ALL immigrants, regardless of status (in view that thier advocates somewhat do not care no rely if or not they're criminal or not). What i could somewhat prefer to work out is a sparkling entity, the "League of Documented aliens" get as much as champion the reason of criminal immigration. those are people who could be quickly-tracked for admittance and citizenship.

They Are People That Have Abandoned Their Country

Although They've Given Up On Their Nation
They Remain Loyal To It

It Doesnt Make Sense

Until You REALIZE
That They Are Here To Destroy OUR Nation
On Behalf Of Their Nation
THEN You Can Understand

Unil Then, You Will Remain Blind

Hi, To the contrary, they CAN get housing, welfare, medicaid, and work here. That is why they risk getting caught by immigration crossing our borders. Life for them here is much better than in their countries. All can go back to their country if they want to, without fear of reprisal except for those that have come here for political asylum. They choose to stay here because life is much better and easier for them. Most send money home to their relatives because their countries are so poor.

The term "Illegal immigrants" is a contradiction in terms. Immigrants enter the country "Legally" with proper paperwork, are authorized to live and work in this country. "Illegal aliens" is the proper term.

Also, housing, welfare and medicaid have never been available to illegal aliens. In order to qualify for these programs a person must possess proper immigrant status. As of 1996, a person must either be a U.S. citizen or a "Lawful" Permanent Resident for more than 5 years in order to qualify for these programs.

Everyone is so against illegal aliens -- that is so judgmental. God created this world for everyone to share it in communion with each other. What makes us so supreme to say that we won't share our country, which is a country because of immigrants. Our Forefathers immigrated to the new world looking for certain freedoms that were not available to them in the old country.

What everyone refuses to see is that illegal aliens are present in the U.S. because of FAILED ENFORCEMENT. The Legislative Branch of our government makes laws that the Executive Branch fails to enforce. For example: If a Tourist who enters the U.S. is issued an I-94 Card dictating the specific terms of his/her presence in the U.S., why doesn't the Immigration Control and Enforcement (ICE) go looking for that person as soon as the status of that person is expired. I'll tell you why. Because there is no tracking system. So, they create the law, but no tracking system. So, the government is at fault.

Employers hire illegal aliens -- why? Because they don't want to pay legal prevailing wages to the U.S. workers. Also, employers don't want to pay their contribution to the taxes they have to withhold. Instead of hiring citizens, they exploit these people who come to the US looking for a better way to live. They pay them wages below minimun wage and don't contribute to their withholding taxes. Therefore, employers are at fault. Employers will continue to hire illegal aliens because there is no way that the government can monitor every single employee every single employer hires. THERE IS NO ENFORCEMENT!

Personally, I believe that the US Government is losing alot of money in tax revenue. These people are here and are not going anywhere. They are not going to leave because they have nothing to go back to. I think that when and if the government decides to pass an Immigration Reform law, this law should make it mandatory for every person who wishes to legalize to pay all of their back taxes -- PAY FOR STAY PROGRAM.

Can you imagine if each of the estimated 12 million illegal aliens (I think there are 20 million, actually) paid $10,000 in back taxes to the U.S. Treasury? Do the math -- wouldn't that help our deficit? I say, let the legalization program begin.

Immigrants are illegal under US laws, but they are not illegal people. If caught, they would be sent back to their countries.

Because of past policies of taking resources of these countries and disturbing their governments, there are not a lot of jobs there. They can't feed their families. They have a much better chance of feeding their families here, so they are willing to live outside the law. Some want to become citizens, others would like the option to come to work and then go back home.

Many years ago, this was possible. Today, the US laws make going home harder. Some are stuck and miss their families.

The US should change the laws and make it easier to come and go. That is the must humane way because the US needs workers and the workers need to go home.

First of all, I dont think you know any illegal immigrants from any country judging from most of your answers and questions. But Ill humor you and answer this one for ya. What makes them stay here is the fact that employers actually hire them, albeit at below minimum wage but even that is much higher than what they would make in Mexico. The fact that they can actually make a living here is what keeps them here, I dont think its because of the hospitality. If we start doing something about the employers who hire and the landlords who rent to them perhaps that might reduce the numbers that are constantly coming in through our unsecured borders, into this country of unenforced laws. You need to stop blaming them for taking advantage of the fact that we cant practice what we preach and we're incompetent at enforcing our own laws.

You seriously can't be that naive, can you?

A need or problem encourages creative efforts to meet the need or solve the problem....Necessity is the mother of invention....Human beings will always find a way to better themselves.....Especially if they face incredible odds....

Since you don't live in a third world country, its so easy to say, "Fix your country!"......Thats just too easy, my friend.....Especially when you enjoy the freedoms that this country affords you.....But, try living in a country that doesn't allow you these freedoms? Its not so simple or easy....
