So I live in the dorms at my college and one of our urinals broke down and there is urine in it that didn't get flushed down. So now the bathroom smells like old pee. The plumber won’t be able to make it in till Wednesday. My question is, is urine acidic or basic, and what are some good was to neutralize the urine to get the smell to go away.
Two of my floor mates had some ideas, one said add Oxyclean to it, another sad add ant-acids like Tums.

Adding Tums to it will not Neutralize an odor. You're only going to calcify the Urine and it'll just cling to the urinal even more. A capful of Bleach would do the trick.

put a sign up for no one else to pee in it for starters. Or something to stop drunk people from using it. bring in a fan. keep the door to the bathroom closed and the window open. if you bleach it let your floormates know. insense are probley not allowed in the dorm but there are allot of other air freshners out there.
you could also try plastic wrap. contain the smell just like you would to somebodys door as a practical joke. wrap it up

There are several products on the internet...mostly pet sites, that sell urine-neutralizing items. Fairly expensive, but a little goes a long way.

Go to petsmart and get some Nature's Miracle. It comes in a spray bottle and a gallon jug. Works great when puppies have an accident, I would think it would work for you too.

Don't do anything to it. Few people know this but the smell of urine is actually good for the nose (it makes your smell receptors sharper)

i think urine is mostly made up of nitrates, which i believe are acidic. so you might want to see if you can get some limes and throw some lime juice on there.

Be sure the room has enough of circulation before using bleach.

if u dont have a problem with incense u can burn incense once a day and that masks the mell or get febreeze or something
