I believe anyone who have sinned, confesses directly to God. the priest and pope only help guide the confessions from people to God. Like lending a helping ear.

Of course priests and the Pope have to confess. They confess to another priest.

Yes, the Pope has a specific priest he chooses as his confessor. Every Catholic confesses to God through the ministry of His priests, whom He breathed upon, indicating a special empowerment of the Holy Spirit, and then said, "whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven them". I wonder what Protestants think this means?

I don't know. Confessing to another sinner has never made any sense to me. I confess my sins to God directly. Christians have a direct link through the Holy Spirit.

I believe you should confess to God and not man. It is not a Pope's business what sins I have committed. He can't save me and neither can Mary. Only God can and that is my main concern.

They confess to another priest of higher rank. The punishment is a thousand times more severe.

Jesus is the only person who interceedes between God and men.
Priests and Pope can confess straight to God, like the rest of us.

Hopefully they confess their sins to God like the Bible tells us all to do.
