Ok look at it like this. God=Father, Man=Child, Hell=Punishment, Sin=wrong doing.
God(father) caught Man (child) committing some Sin (doing something wrong), and being the good father let it slide the first couple of times and still let u make ur own decision to regardless if they are right (free will). Knowing that everything has consequences and all he ask is for u admit it and apologize he gives u an alternative. U can tell the truth or face ur punishment (hell).
It is just like ur parents did to u as a child. If u did something wrong they punished u. U are in charge of ur life and already know that every choice u make has consequences. So look at as a parent punishing their child for doing something wrong.
Now I don't believe hell is what fire and brimstone. I think that is more along the lines of a scare tactic. I believe that hell is different for each person, and it is similar to being grounded. U match the crime to the punishment. Then once u have served ur punishment then u are released. I can't believe that good being a loving father would create such a horrid place without a way to getting out. What kind of father would want to see the child suffer for eternity. I understand punishment for wrong doing but that is way to harsh.

How is making a choice being forced? Your mom tells you not to cross the street without looking. You defy her and step off the curb and get smacked by a car. Was your mother therefore "raping you with her love?" YOU were told what would happen, YOU made the choice, YOU performed the action, and YOU suffer the consequences. Don't blame your mom. Likewise, don't blame God for loving and warning you. He knows of what He speaks.

it seems you're trying to ''reduce to the absurd'' but you're not doing a very good job. see, rape is all kinds of not suitable for the illustration. rape is forcing sex on the unwilling. God doesn't have sex with ppl :-p and what's more, christians seek the will of God and pray that it be done. so lemme re-write that Q for ya:
''How is God not forcing His love on us if Hell is the only alternative?
letting us choose our eternal destination is not love.''
that's better. now i will answer it. actually, when God created the universe, the earth, and everything on it, He spoke it all into existence. it was nothing to Him. when He sent His Son, Jesus to die so that we could all have a second chance at heaven, it cost Him dearly. He could have scrapped the whole plan and started over, but He loved us that much.
"if your children ignored you, did things that you hated, and wanted nothing to do with you, at some point, you have to give up on them. that point is death.''

God or human, we can not force someone to love us. It is always a free choice. As to Hell. The Christian God is a God of Love. He does not send people to Hell. People choose to go there. By that I mean that some people, once they have the full knowledge that God exist, might choose to live for all eternity outside of His Love. That is their free will choice and He does not take that choice from them, even at their death.

The idea of freewill doesnt hinge on how may choices you have. Thats like me putting a snickers and twix in front of you and asking you to decide. Although it seems your options are indeed limited, you have the freewill choice to make on whether youre going to eat the twix or snickers. You can only have one and after you unwrap the wrapper, there is no going back and you have self-determined which chocolate treat youre going to devour.
Choose wisely! The choice is all ours!!

He gives us free will to choose. Hell may be the only alternative to heaven, but we don't all choose the way to heaven. If we all chose the way to heaven, there would be nobody going to hell.....and the bible clearly states that many will be going to hell. I think your question really is does God force US to love him? Obviously He does not force us to love him or we'd all be going to heaven. He wants us to love him by our own choice.....truly love him through His son. Otherwise, what was the whole point in creating earth and putting us on it.....why not just create us to automatically be in heaven and walk around like a bunch of robots saying "I love you God" over and over and over. No, God does not force his love on us......He OFFERS us his love as a free gift through his son Jesus and all we have to do is reach out and take it......what an awesome God!!!!

Yes. Going by many religious dogma, or perhaps only christianity's dogma, you have two choices. Follow god, or Jesus in some cases, to the exact "T" of the holy book. Or go to hell.
Note that many people who try to enforce their religion on other people are also picking and choosing what they want to follow and therefore not following their lord's religion and thusly going to hell by their own words. Oh. That's a new conclusion for me, I should write it down.
All of this greatly sucks. For us, the "unbelievers" who will "burn in the firey lakes of hell for all eternity" someone should point that out in the bible because last I heard Hell was actually cold. Very, very cold. 'Course they'll all say it's covered in hell fire, but then maybe hell fire is cold fire. Hrm...

"Either/or is not free will" is correct, and I am glad to see it stated so well. This belief is a twisted interpretation based on a deep universal sorrow, as we struggle with the age-old concept that we are separate from whatever "God" is...but the truth of Divine Love is infinitely kind, not conditional. And not separated. It is eternal (NOW); it is perfect, whole, and complete, and we are created part of that. It is everything we are, in truth.

I am sorry to say this but I disagree with the ordained minster. Anyone who doesn't accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior will end up in Hell. It is a real place for anyone who does not accept. God gives you the right to choose which way you should go. He did not say Love me or Else. Except me or Else. He is just saying accept me and live in paradise for eternity. Doesn't sound to bad to me!

He loves us all so deeply and wants nothing more than for you to be with him on the day you take your last breath. Dont worry about force and Just take the chance and let him love you and accept his free gift, His son Jesus. For that is the only way to inter the Kingdom of Heaven.
