I just had a thought that mankind could be considered socially evolved if we found a permanent alternative to war. I mean, if two nations are disputing the rights to some land or resource, why should the ability to kill and destroy decide the winner? There has to be a better way. I'm not smart enough to think of what that might be right now, but someone must be.

I think there's a screw loose in all humans that acts as a form of population control. This, of course, is aggression. For all the sickness and famine and natural disasters, we're still spreading across the globe in a hurry and the failsafe to keep our numbers down is war. Nasty, but it seems to be the case. I could suggest alternatives (Olympic-style competitions to attain land or what have you) but I doubt anyone would adhere to them. Perchance the best hope we have is space travel, whereby the human race can spread as it needs to and will have less need to club each other to death for the sake of a patch of dirt.

War is not about mankind. It's all about governments. There have to be wars going on to secure certain countries' economies. If America didn't make wars, and if any other countries were not participating with them, the economy would crash. Peace, although it is something the majority of people want, is not popular among governments. Personally, I am all for peace. However, I am not a person in power to decide such things. Governments are. Our government controls half of the world's economy. Half. If they get control over Iraq, they will control 75% of the world's economy. Actually, they will control 100%, and I'll explain why. Iraq has the second highest number of oil reserves in the world besides Saudi Arabia. If America controls Iraq, they control Saudi Arabia as well. Considering the fact that if they did control Iraq, and had 75% of the world's wealth, Saudi Arabia would have to deal with them. They'd have no other choice, but to take America as an "ally." American government is very sly. They plan everything so that rebublicans are the ones who make war, which makes money for them. Then, the democrats will have a president come in to clean up the mess, and give respite until the next republican president is elected. Then, the vicious cycle continues. Look back in history, and you will see my point.

Sadly, I think that mankind may always be at war. I'm reading a very thought provoking book right now, called The Lucifer Principle. The author points out that animals and humans have always been at war.

Yes, mankind will be like kids fighting over a toy. They are say it is theirs and begin hitting the other child until it lets go. I honestly hope that there will be an alternative to war but it doesn't look like it. They are developing weapons so we don't have to leave our home to fight wars anymore.

There are better ways but if mankind does not adopt them then they might as well not exist.
The solution: Let's not get on each others' nerves. That is the cause of countless fights by individuals and nations.

Get rid of religion worldwide. That would be a great start. In a time of weapons of mass destruction, we can no longer afford to be tolerant of religious beliefs that pit one "true" god against another.

ya physical conflict still seems to be the flavor of choice for dealing with people who get in the way of our dreams and desires. as long as we see other nations or other people as ''different' from us, more wars will ensue.
