Find common ground first. Work from there. To be friendly - is to make oneself vulnerable and approachable. You can do this, but just guard you back and never take your eyes from them.

If the individual chooses to make friends, then you need to attract yourself to someone who gives you what you want in a friendship. So if you want a friend who told you or you felt they wanted to kill you than. You asked for IT....

whatever you do show no fear..even if its a mild showdown. That way they will realize they cant intimidate you and may find someone else they want to kill whos an easier target.
