No. Because of HEPA and the privacy laws concerning mental health, the only information that ANYONE will be able to find out about your therapy sessions is by your doctor releasing information that you have indicated harming yourself, someone else, or you are concealing a crime (which is required by law). They could try to subpeona your doctor but it won't matter because you are protected by laws of doctor-patient confidentiality. The only way someone could have access to your mental health information is if you sign a release. Even for a background check with the military or otherwise.

Any type of medical record cannot interfere with your furture life. Therapy and counceling are normal things and just like going to any other doctor. Your medical record cannot be used against you and will not prevent you from getting a job or anything like that.

No, in most places HIPAA applies. I don't know about all states, but in most the Health insurance portability and Accountbility Act is law It is all disclosed information. There are few things that does not make it applicable but in this instance the answer is they can not get into classified information.

I agree that it is very unlikely. Any medical records have to be kept confidental unless you have signed something that says a specific individual can obtain your information. There is something called HIPPA that protects patient privacy. There are consequences for healthcare providers to divuldge any of your information.

No. These would be private medical records, only available with your express permission. However, therapy is so commonplace nowadays that even if someone did find out, the chances of them being judgemental are slim. If you feel you need help, please don't hesitate to get some! :-)

Choos your therapist carefully, then it will be very unlikely.

If there is a murder trial, and you are deemed relevant, then the court could issue a subpoena to your therapist.

In general, society and therapists think that ti is very important to protect client confidentiality.

Not unless you tell them. Do not go to see a psychiatrist - that will go on your medical record. You can see a psychologist though for cognative therapy.

No they should not find out unless you tell them. Your counsellor is not allowed, by law, to tell anyone that you were in counselling.

NO, unless YOU sign something stating otherwise. In fact if your therapist/doctor/psychologist DOES tell them they can be in BIG legal trouble. Take care of yourself!
