Where can I find safe reliable child care for my kids 9,8, and 2 while I work (12 hr shifts)and attend class. I have no family here or any friends who are willing to keep my kids. I am in a bad relationship and he keeps threating to walk out and refuses to keep the kids so that I can work or attend class b/c I want to end the relationship. I need childcare all day for the little one, and before and after school for the older two kids. i cannot afford to put all kids in childcare at the same time.

I know you may not want to, but since you are trying to better yourself, get on welfare and if your state has it you can apply for child care assistance. You need to get rid of that boyfriend soon, don't keep putting it off. That only adds to the stress you and your children are already facing. If in the future you think of taking him back, remember this: you ended it for a reason and most likely that reason is still there! Also there are a lot of people that do babysitting in their own homes. Some are licensed by the state. Most of them are cheaper than daycare. I did this myself on and off for 10 years. Another plus to using an in home type daycare is you can ask for references. Make sure you call them and ask lots of questions. If the person has to think of answers, DO NOT use the person because the reference is most likely fake. Good luck! I will be praying for you and your children!

Open up to those around you and not just on the computer. Start with the school/schools you children attend. The school office, school nurse, the PTA, those are all the best places to start. You could start with a month of help and then get yourself together better so can do something more permanent.
i don't know your situation but am seeing one unfold that begins like you've told. Bad relationship and mom trying to get out and up, but friends not willing to help.....either you need better friends and make some quick, or they are all helped out ( my situation-mom keeps returning to bad relationship after LOTS of help) or the chidren are a bit much to handle. You will need to let the lder ones know they must ork together for the time being for you to be able to make things better for all of you.

Does this guy work? It sounds really hard. Look for some after school programs in your town for the older kids. And for the little one there should be a couple of low income facilities available. Man good luck and keep your head up wish you the best in these hard times.

In some states u can get help with child care. Just go down to your local Government assistance building and see if u can get help there. And about the bf I would get rid of him if he's nothing but trouble u and your kids dont need that stress.

Seek help for your local SRS, or DHS office. They have a list of providers, and they may also be able to help you with funding for the childcare.
As for your relationship, it sounds like you need to get out. I know it is not easy, but you need to do what is best for your children and you. You might also check with your local crisis center to see what assistance they can offer.

There's a program called action for children,it's a program where they help you pay for child care and help you find good,reliable child care assistance.I'm not sure if it's only for people in Illinois but it wont hurt to find out.Let me Know if you want the number.

Some colleges and workplaces have daycares. Try headstart if youre low income. maybe a church group could help.
