well my dog would be almost due, but i am not sure exactly when, if she is even pregnant! her nipples are filling up and they are very large and droopy. vet said it would be pointless to do a checkup now. anyways, today she puked a few times, and she has had some discharge, but nothing else, could these be signs that shes very close? do you think shes even pregnant? she is a year and a half old, 15 pound chihuahua

she will be restless, sometimes walking around like she doesn't know what she wants to do, she will probably pant, she may seek you out for comfort- not getting too far away from you. If you have a whelping box she may start nesting, digging standing and turning and alternately laying down..she might think she has to go to the bathroom a lot

Your dog may not be pregnant but just think she is. Sometimes when dogs go in heat there hormones get funny and causes them to think they're preg. They have all the signs and symptoms including weight gain, lactating, and even the birthing proccess. Once she has gone through whelping she will be fine although you may notice some of your stuffed animals missing and you'll find her trying to nurse them... she will be fine in the end. If she is pregnant you'll know soon enough sounds like. I don't think vomitting is normal and I agree you should seek a new vet.

If her breasts are very heavy like they are full of milk, then yes, it sounds like she is definitely pregnant. When they have a flase pregnancy, they may have some milk, but not as much as with a real pregnancy. The discharge also suggests that she is getting ready to have puppies. They can have a discharge for several days before the pups are born.

Is she panting? Restless? Anxious? Breathless? Does she seem as though she wants to hide? These are some signs she is close, along with her water breaking of course.
Also if you have a thermometer you can check her rectal temp. When it drops below 100 degrees, expect pups within 24 hours.

I agree with Sara, There is False Pregnancy and if your vet wont check her out, go to a different vet. I am pretty sure false pregnancy can lead to death, so please get her checked. I think if she is close to being due you should notice size change and they look for a good place to give birth. Keep an eye on her and again please get her checked. Good Luck.

My dog never threw up or anything of the sort, before she had her puppies. I wouldn't worry about it. What vet do you go to? Maybe you should get a new one. Any good vet would do a check-up, especially since you are unsure of the status of your dog. They can figure that out for you. Also, once you find out....when you are able to, please spay your dog.
