what the hell does a smirk mean anyways? He's really quite mysterious. He's 2 yrs older than me. He is 19, I am 17. He is also my best friends brother. He is always smirking at me. why?

He loves mystery and the fact that you don't know why. He also knows it would be awkward for you to bring it up. Do something mysterious back that he doesn't understand like give him the finger only make it the pinky or ask him why he wears only certain types of clothes. Catch him off guard. He may be hiding the fact that he wants to have fun and ask you out so don't be too queer about it. Making him laugh will ultimately break the ice.

You know what? I've asked this question before myself. I think some people are just "smirkers". It's like they always have this half-baked semi-smile all the time. Or, everytime any one says anything to them, this little smirk appears. It's almost like they're laughing at you inside. Weird.
However, I'm told that it's a nervous habit and that it reflects insecurity or low self-esteem (?) Maybe that's what's going on. It may not be about you at all. He may feel uncomfortable around you because you are his friend's sister, or your really cute, or he feels self conscious..who knows? He's probably not even aware that he's doing it.
