from a person who has cracked his for the past 29 yrs at a rate of at least 8 times per day.

no health effects....actually over time your fingers become more nimble and quicker responses. are knuckles larger than normal? sure, slightly, maybe 10% at max on a bad day. But if I don't crack for just a weak it goes away....just like inflmatory reaction from the releasing of the gas from the knuckle socket.

my hands are my career and life and I see a hand specialists every few yrs and get hands xrayed, etc. doc agrees that cracking is old wives tale.

I even do my chest bone, back, toes, neck...and it all feels so goodddddd :)

Other than the fact that it drives me CRAZY when I see people do it, there are some people that say it can be beneficial but others say it can cause arthritis. I dont know about making them get big though. When you crack your knuckles the sound you hear is air being moved around in the joint.

My Rhuemetologist has said it damages the cartilidge and bone loss do to the fluid swelling. The swelling will make your knuckles larger it is not the bones it is the fluid between the bones. It is also not very polite to do some people find it very annoying. so try not to crack your knuckles to prevent fluid damage and maintain you politeness.

There are no side effects from cracking your knuckles, so if you have big knucles, that means you've just got naturally big knuckles.

read about it on this website http://www.answerbag.com/q_view.php/40983

hope it'll help

yes, it wears down the fluids and stuff in between your bones that help keep your joints loose. when that stuff is worn down, it's just bone rubbing on bone, which can cause inflammation - bigger knuckles and eventually arthritis.
