What's wrong with it? I mean, Jesus said to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

It is not mandatory for Catholics to do the sign of the cross, by the way. We just do it to remind ourselves of who we are.

can you tell me where Jesus said that we are saved by faith alone? Can you tell me where Jesus said that all we need is the Bible, (which by the way did not even exist yet?) Can you tell me where Jesus said rituals are meaningless even though God commanded the Jews to practice these "meaningless rituals?" And so on. These are things most Protestants believe. Maybe THEY should take a look at what they believe.

The prayer you are regarding is referred to as "The Lord's Prayer", and it was once taught within the bible so I say it could do well to UNDERSTAND, and recite it. The pass then again was once made symbolic as a substitute than being an fashioned image. It should not be the pass itself that is main to you, however what jesus persevered giving us forgiveness and everlasting lifestyles via his loss of life at the pass.. That's the value! Not announcing that you just will have to throw away your crosses and matters like that. I put on a pass round my neck 24/7 and to me it symbolizes my religion as a Christian, however do not be incorrect if i did not have this pass round my neck my religion in Jesus our savior could nonetheless stand corporation. With that being stated do not discover your self worshiping the pass considering that our God is a jealous God (Exodus 20:five). Worship The Lord now not the pass. All in most of these are simply human evaluations, however when you lengthy for truly reality and revelation I endorse you to learn the bible your self and pray then permit the Holy Spirit advisor you to the proper reply. May God bless you.

Well, the Catholic church does not actually follow bible teachings. There is no scripture to command the symbolic gesture you refer to. Jesus did say to baptize in the name of the father, son and holy spirit. However, if you look at what Peter did,(and the Catholic church claims he was the first pope), he baptized in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38). This is the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, according to scripture. There is no trinity. There is only one God, manifest in the flesh ITim 3:16.

Jesus was giving instructions to his disciples on how to conduct baptisms for the new churches. He didn't give specific instructions to make the "sign of the cross". In fact, he DID warn against making repeated phrases and rituals, as such things are meaningless.
Can you tell us where in the Bible are instructions for making the sign of the cross, its purpose, and how it helps us to live a more Godly way of life, fulfill the two commandments, and bring us closer to God?

There's no room here for me to address every point you just made, especially considering I was only trying to answer your specific question. There's no reason to attack me.
Think about your question. If you had pointed out that "we do it to remind ourselves of who we are" that would have changed the context, wouldn't it? My answer addressed your question in the way that you asked it.
1. It has nothing to do with baptism, and
2. everything to do with Catholic fascination with rituals, and the fact that Christianity is based upon a relationship with God, NOT following rituals of the Church.

Actually Roman Catholics are not the only ones who make the sign of the cross. But it is true that Protestants do not do it. Anglicans do. Orthodox do, but the Orthodox do it from right to left instead of left to right.
Note: There are 4 branches of Christianity, that is why I separate out the Protestants from the Anglicans and Orthodox.

Because our salvation is within our hearts. We don't have to perform any rituals to have it or preserve it. All it takes is a direct link to God through Jesus Christ which was provided for us by His death on the cross. We no longer have to go through a "high priest" to enter the throne room of Father God. We don't have to cross ourselves or burn incense or know a magic handshake or pray to Mary or anything else. All we have to do is believe and receive the gift of salvation and establish an ongoing relationship with God Himself through His Son Jesus Christ. It's simple. People try to make it complicated.

The sign of the cross originated from the times Christians where prosecuted. It first started out with the fingers crossed in a way to form a cross and pressed to the forehead to show each fellow Christian as a greeting and then changed to the sign of the cross we do today each mass.

Nothing is wrong with it the Bible just says that I don't have to do repetitive things.
It is accurate that Jesus says to baptise them in the name of the father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Baptise - full immersion)
I ain't getting baptised all the time, God lives in me, and I try to look after my relationship with him as best I can. I dont have to do the sign of the cross as a requirement.

Some "non-Roman Catholic" Christians do make the sign of the Cross; even some "Protestant" and other non-Roman Catholic Clergy do.
Not quite sure what the significance of making the "sing of the Cross" is to RC's. Protestants may use it with several meanings; for instance, they might "make the sign of the Cross" while giving thanks to God.
I think it is frequently done along with infant baptism in the triune name of God.
Why do you think non-Roman Catholics don't?
