You can either paint it a solid color and let it dry or just leave it how it is, and then rub a waxy candle on certain areas like the edges of a chair or table or whatever and then paint a different color or shade on top of that. Let it dry. Then, you can use an old towel adn iron the towel on top of where the wax is to melt it onto the towel dn off the furniture. Then, the base color will show through from where the wax was and the second color didn't penetrate. Did that make sense? Very easy and looks great!

do a search on crackleing, i know you paint the furniture, or if it is already painted, get white glue, water it down, or a finish called crackle, paint it on the furniture, then put another color over it, when the crackle dries it will cause cracks to appear giving the furniture an antique look, i am not sure how dry the glue should be, so, google it to see if you can find out the exact details. or, if you can get a product called glaze, mix some colored paint with it, paint your item, then with a dry rag, take some of the glazed paint back off, leave heavier in the cracks and let dry, that will also work..good luck

distressed means very used looking. Old furniture is already distressed. If it is painted. Try using some stuff called Krudd Kutter to get rid of the grim. If you want to paint it and distress it, use a rag to wipe some paint off before it dries completely. Or after it dries use rough sand paper to remove some paint.

you can use rolled up newspaper. rolled up plastic bags, or just place a bag over the wet paint, kind of rub it with the palms of your hands,(no fingers) than pull it off. that has a nice design, good luck
