I have a rather dry complexion and I use Neutrogena's cleansing foam for normal to dry skin. However, I was told that it'd be better for me to use a cleansing milk because it doesn't dry the skin as much, on the contrary, it kinda mosturizes it... but I don't trust cleansing milks. I feel like that the foam works better and deeper. Maybe it's because after rinsing the foam I know there's NOTHING on my skin whereas the milk stays on your face, even though I rinse after I use it (is rinsing ok? or am I just a cleansing freak?). Afterwards I tone, of course, (that's where I make sure my face is REALLY clean) and then mosturize.

Enough blabbing... opinions? suggestions? recommendations? tips? which one is better?

I don't know if it makes any difference but I exfoliate 2 to 3 times a week.

I think the foam is better and makes me feel like i cleaned my face thoroughly, how does your skin feel after you moisturise? does it feel dryer? if not keep doing what you do because it sounds great to me

I also have very dry skin, and I prefer a liquid cleanser (like Cetaphil). It's super gentle, without being foamy and just leaves my skin super clean, not dry or tight at all. Even though I have very dry skin, cleansing milks make me breakout! What I do is cleanse with Cetaphil and then just put some light under-eye cream before I go to sleep. That way, I can control what I moisturize specially
It also depends on the kind of makeup you're using. If it's really heavy then probably you should use a cleansing *cream*, which are heavy but will take away all of the pigment. That's why they use them in theater or ballet, etc.
Cleansing milks are, in my perception, for more mature skin that need that extra moisture boost.
PS. If your skin is dry, limit exfoliation to just once or twice a week, max!

Of course you will have dry skin if you exfoliate 2-3 times a week, only oily skin is recommended to do that. If you have dry skin, you can only exfoliate once per week, nothing more than that.

Also, it's ok to use cleansing foam for dry skin but it's BETTER to use cleansing milk, it's fine to rinse it (I rinse after using cleansing milk too). However, if you can't accept using a cleansing milk, you can add a moisturizing/ hydrating masks to your face twice per week and that will ease the dryness for sure. Here are some moisturizing masks you can check out:

Well first off, you're exfoliating way too many times per week. You should only do it about once a week and even less during the winter time. In the winter, skin naturally exfoliates. What you need is a gentle exfoliator and a moisturizer all in one.
I recommend the Oatmeal Sugar Cookie Bar from Breezy Beach Wear. The Chocolate Indulgence and Coco-Nutty bars are also good choices as they all gently exfoliate with sugar or natural fruit and are filled with extra moisturizers. And they are all safe to use on your face as well as the rest of your skin. They can only be purchased online at www.breezybeachwear.com. Just click on Beachy Clean.

Maybe that is what's making ur skin dry (ur putting too much chemicals on it and exfoliating too much!) U should only exfoliate about once or twice and that depends on how rough or oily your skin is. I personally like foaming cleanser (anything by neutrogena), and I am not sure about cleansing milk but one product that is really light but still works well is Cetaphil products. It seems runny but it leaves just the right amount of moisture on ones face and it cleanses without the harsh chemicals. Its okay to use toner, but I personally feel if u just wash ur face and then place astrigent on there (which works like a toner-feels like alcohol) it should work. in addition, placing moisturizer on ur face after these two things will keep ur face balanced (not too dry not too moist) Clean and clear moisturizer is good too

I prefer a foam. Cleansing milks feel like they leave a film on my skin. If the foam doesn't dry your skin too much, then I would stick to what has been working for you.

You should follow the instructions on the product's label. DO NOT RINSE WHEN YOU AREN'T TOLD TO.This renders the product ineffective, and probably further dries the skin. Milks sound more effective. How about a high-quality facial lotion?
