You DO NOT need a passport if you are not traveling out of the country by air. If your cruise ship leaves the US, all you need is a birth certificate until Jan. 2008 - this is only for land and sea crossings, if you cross by air you do need a passport. I would still recommend getting one if you have time/energy/funds.

Yes you will need a passport. Originally the deadline to start having passports when you cruise to Mexico was set for January 1st, 2007. However it was then extended to accomodate the holiday travelers. Unfortunately, by the time you travel in March, the new law will be in effect. The State Department website is correct.

I'm in the Military and I went on actually went on a cruise to cozumel last April.....I went with Carnival cruises and they told me I needed a passport or a birth certificate on the phone, but when I showed them my Military ID at the port they said it was all they had to see....Just in case I would get a birth certificate if you don't have time for a passport...they are not very strict with travel documents when your in the military...trust me from experience....they even up graded us to a window cabin.

Absolutely. Any more with the way things are having a Passport is of the utmost importance. You can pay a bit extra to have a passport expedited....especially if you have a military ID. Go into the county clerks office and ask them... make sure you have a passport photo and you'll be good to go in two weeks. good luck.

Oh yes. With all the new regulations being enacted you will need a passport anytime you leave or enter the country. You should apply as soon as possible to avoid the rush at the first of the year. Good Luck and have an enjoyable trip.

Yes you need a passport since youre going to another country. The only exception would be if your country has a passport free deal with that country and the others youre going to. If youre unsure check with the countrys embassy! Johan

Get a passport. It will be good for several years and you'll have it for future trips. Besides with all the border issues you're supposed to have a passport going back and forth between USA and Canada or Mexico for security.

yep- you need one, Your birth certificate used to be all you needed for Mexico, but beginning in January of 2007 they changed the rules and you need a passport to go ANYWHERE outside of the US including Mexico and Canada. You might want to inform your travel agent of the recent change.
