I agree. It's like.... these people should be weeping every time you take a tumble and scrape off a bit of skin.

Ah, regretfully the religious ones have it there way again. Some seem to think a soul is mysteriously implanted into an embryo at conception, and there lies another stumbling block to medical sciences advancement. But, cheer up, recent stem cell research has developed new stem cell lines from old existing ones. There may be hope yet. I agree that it does hinder the advancement of medicine but with determination and much hard work progress is being made despite the short sightedness of religion.

Actually, there are several types of stem cells. I believe religous people are ok with somatic stem cell research, but not with the embryonic stem cell research.
Embryonic stem cells do have potential to become a human being. The "tire to a car" is not an accurate analogy here. More accurate analogy would be the "a seed to a tree."
Some Christians do not want any stem cell research because they do not want humans to unlock the secret to longevity. In the Bible, God decree that humans should live up to be 120 years old. Stem cell research has a potential to reveal a technique to lengthen the human life span well beyond 120 years.

Why is this so hard to understand? There are THREE varieties of stem cells. Those collected from the placentia, adult stem cells, and stem cells collected from aborted children.
That third category has never produced any useful research AT ALL. The only research that has proven useful has come from placentias and adult cells. Nevertheless. the government insists on funding the useless research that depends on dead babies.
There is nothing wrong with using stem cells. But let's not waste money on dry wells.

Cells are cells are cells. Your point is good. Stem cells have many applications that can greatly improve quality of life and health for many people. I really hope that scientists will have the opportunity to learn how to use them.

I am so very glad that Jesus didn't think of me as a tire.He was willing to die for us so we could live.We could never ask innocent helpless babies to die so we could live.Lets compare the elderly to healthy people, most of them can't do anything. So should we go to all the nursing homes and suck the stem cells out of their brains so we can all live a little longer?Do you have any conscious at all ?

I agree completely--if you cut off your toe, does your toe have a soul? some people just cannot stand it that science can help people when miracles fail
