The earliest writers are unknown. Nobody knows who wrote Genesis, but from the structure of the book, it was multiple writers.
The Psalms were presumably written by King David.
Solomon wrote Proverbs and the Song of Solomon.
Many of the Old Testament books are named after their presumed authors.
The New Testament is fairly self-explanatory. The apostles, or a scribe wrote the gospels. Paul has a number of letters bearing his name. James, Peter and John have epistles bearing their names, and John wrote Revelations.
Most Bibles have some indication as to the authorship of various books.

The Bible has one over-arching author who is God. The Bible itself claims that "men inspired by God" wrote it. This does not imply that God dictated to scribes who wrote His words verbatim. Rather, the styles, backgrounds and possibly education and/or scholarship levels of the "human authors" is evident (Pauline theology, Johanan flair) in the works. A few books in the Bible (Protestant Bible has 66 books--39 old, 27 new testament) are of unknow (human) authors (e.g. Job [old] and Hebrews [new]. Remember that the Olivet Discourse (apx. Gospel John chapters 14-16) teaches that the Holy Spirit counsels and reminds us what God is saying or has said.

The bible has many authors. It is a collection of letter and writing that span a great number of years. The decision as to what writings would be included was made by a group of men who desperately wanted control over the population. So they picked, excluded and altered as they saw fit. One thing is certain; they had a sense of humor, (read revelation) and they didn't discriminate against the pervs(read Song of Solomon). Truth be told, there was no inspiration just aspirations

It's the inspired word of God. So, basically, the Holy Spirit guided the people who wrote it. Moses wrote a couple of the OT books, and most of the prophet books were written by the prophets themselves(ex. Daniel, Ezekiel) King David and King Solomon wrote some OT books. New Testament, Matthew, Mark, John, Luke: the gospels (Luke also wrote Acts of the Apostles) Paul wrote most of the epistles (ex, letter to the hebrews, philipians etc..) Peter wrote some. John wrote some.

The Bible is a collection of writings of various authors. Moses wrote the first five books of the Old Testament. Christ's apostles wrote books in the New Testament. There are many other authors, all of whom were inspired by God to write what they did, for our benefit. There are many other books MISSING that are referred to in the Bible - hopefully they will be found and added.

The Roman Emporer Constantine wanting to establish his rule over the locals and bring down paganism bastardised the Pagan religion and created Christainity, put together a book called the Holy Bible by four different authours Matthew, John, Luke and Paul. There are a lot more books written by people before and after the Death of Christ but these four got the honours as they were the right stuff Constantine was looking for. This was done around 400 years after the death of Jesus Christ. I wonder why I am agnostic???

If you can recieve it the answer is that GOD did write the Bible through His choice of faithful people. Why do you think that GOD could not actually write in any book? You will see that He did indeed write certian things himself such as the ten comandments and the hand writing on the wall that King Belshazzar
saw in the book of Daniel , these are just two examples. It is not really about who wrote the actual words on paper but about whether or not we are willing to just read it and have the faith to keep reading it. The Bible says that we are to read it,not necessarily understand it but we are to 1. read 2. hear[ listen to the word being preached] 3. and heed [obey] this is what makes the word of GOD come alive for you. Nobody else can do that for you. It's up to you. Until people have stoped making excuses not to read it they will never know.

All of the answers are right. God used many different men of many walks of life to write His Word. The Bible is the inspired word of God meaning He used each individual writer's mind and gave them the words to say. God Himself is the author of the Bible but He used many different writers.
