I take Gravol whenever I suffer from vertigo. The upside is that it's cheap. The downside is that it only relieves the symtoms and since it makes you drowsy, you'd have to sleep it off to actually feel better. My doctor prescribed Sert but it only made matters worse. Not only did I still suffer from vertigo, now I had to deal with awful nausea too (thanks to that drug). So I stopped it all together and went back to using Gravol.
But if you constantly suffer from vertigo, you need to have yourself checked out. There are many reasons why you might be suffering from it (like infection or other more serious underlying causes). The best advice I can give you is to see you doctor.

My god, do I feel sorry for you. I've had one classic vertigo episode at the gym about 6 weeks ago. I'm in my 50's and it has never happened to me. I was so scared, I thought I was dying. My doctor told me, and since then I've done quite abit of research on it, that we all have these little tube like things in our ears that have little calcium's type rocks in them and when vertigo happens one of those rocks has gotten out and when the vertigo goes away its back in. There has got to be a reason why this keeps happening to you. I would go to another doctor because I don't know how you can live like this. I've been afraid to exercise ever since it happened, I'm so afraid of it happening again. My doctor didn't perscribe anything for me because it lasted all of a minute and it hasn't happened again. I wish you good luck and stay balanced.

well vertigo has a lot of causes and as many medications..vertigo is usually due to a vestibular problem...that is a problem in your inner part of the ear..for symptomatic relief what is most commonly used are what are called vestibular sedatives that is drugs that put your inner ear to sleep literally!!...they are drugs that are also antihistamics..like cinnarazine ,etc..they are not available over the counter in US unlike some other countries

I am not sure. If your vertigo is due to inner ear infection, then one of the antibiotics, penicillin, or one of the other "cillins" might help. If the doctor can't figure out the cause, he may prescribe Antivert.
If low blood sugar is the cause (and it can be, check out www.hufa.org), then a change of diet will help - as there is no medicine yet for low blood sugar.

Gravol is cheapest (generic of course) that will probably work. Depends on the source of your vertigo of course. If it's merely mild acrophobia (fear of heights) you can get over it with practice. If it really is inner ear you will need to see your doctor
