yeah .. but only because society makes smoking seem so glamourous and we all know it's addictive.
I dont believe you could be addicted after only the first cig. I believe it was more of brainwashing(we all know it's addictive) than actually addiction.
I tried it once and i imagine it but only cuz i know it's bad for u and i've been told it help relieves stress and i am always in high stress.

Some people tend to fall into addiction sooner than others. Nicotine is what makes cigarettes addictive. Nicotine in a cigarette will vary according brand. So, if you are prone to addiction, and your smoking a cigarette with a lot of nicotine then your on your way to addiction, and a future full of health problems. For instance, lung cancer and emphysema. If you want to know what it's like to have emphysema, go get a straw and blow through it. Now, try breathing that way for the next few minutes. If your friend keeps on smoking those cigarettes he/she will later in life be breathing with pursed lips. Do everything you can to stay away from cigarettes, and encourage your friend to stop. If it's a guy tell him his breath stinks, and if it's a girl tell her it doesn't look very attractive. You'll be telling them the truth.

No, you are not usually instantly addicted to smoking when you start. Nicotine is however, one of the most addictive drugs known to humans. She may find that smoking is fun, or exciting. That's probably why she feels that she is already "addicted" to the cigarettes.

No, I don't think you can get addicted that quickly. What's addicting mostly is the habit once you get used to it everyday at a certain time of the day, you feel you need them. (Like if you are used to smoking after dinner for 15 years straight and then you quit, you are going to feel like you are missing something) I don't think it's the cigg that makes you addictied it's the thought of it) I hope this makes any sense for you....LOL

Well, they certainly aren't as addictive as cocaine and such, but they can be addictive from the first time... some more than others. There's definately some desire for more, though there are obnoxious people out there who can take a cig when they want, and don't actually *need* it...
Tell your friend to stop... it leads to lung cancer, teeth problems, nasal problems, heart problems, etc.
Smoking is BAD for you... (No, your mother was not lying to you)

It's possible, I was addicted after maybe 5 cigarettes. It's the hardest habit to break. It is easier to get off heroine than it is cigarettes.

When I first tried it I thought it was the nastiest thing in my life. I smoked my first pack in a month. Yes that long! Smoking didnt give me any rush or didnt make me feel anything. Yes i know how to inhale but it just didnt make me feel addicted. I havnt smoked in 4months since my first pack. I dont think just one can hurt you, mayabe I got lucky. Probably depends on your body.

No. Not true. You have to really work at it to get addicted. Your friend is exhibiting false bravado. She most likely will get addicted if she puts her mind to it. Let's see, that's about $5.00 a day, in 10 years that's $18,250. For nothing.

yup , i was addicted right away too, it would be better for her to quit now then wait til later 'cause the craving just gets more and more , the older u get the harder it gets to stop, tell her to chew gum instead, or put a rubberband on her wrist and each time she wants a smoke snap the rubberband, tell her i hope she can stop
