Oh boy, there are a whole lot of "ifs", "Maybes", and "Depends" in this question. The first key to lessen the possible punishment is to get yourself back under military control. All the penalties jump if you are caught "on the lam". Because this is a long and drawn out issue, I am going to cut to the chase and provide you the link below. Absence Without Leave is governed by Article 86 of the Manual Of Courts Martial and includes a full legal explanation. On the very last page are the penalties (go to the bottom of the article and you will see the links for pages 1-3).

Fisrt of all you would be in trouble.
Then it depends how long you went awol if you came back yourself if the catchyou etc....
can be anywhere from paycut to extra duty to jailtime.
I believe if you come back with 30 days you will be in big trouble but after 30 days you will be looking into serious trouble.

Could be put into military prison.

Could be executed (in time of war, it is legal).

Could be confined to quarters.

Could be docked 3/4 pay for specified amount of time.

Could be rationed to bread and water.

It all depends on who's the punishing authority.
