I am having difficulty at work because I suffer from migraines, and my supervisor has no sympathy. I am looking for people with a similar problem to see if something can be done to help migraineurs in the workplace.

I had migraines in high school. Had my wisdom teeth - no more head aches. Then I had meningitis - migraines back. I had to take codeine and lie very still in a dark room for two to three days. (I had the kind where the tiniest light felt like a laser, walls and ceilings moved wavily, and keeping anything other than a little oatmeal or rice down was impossible.) I used to use Imitrex. It helped me quite a lot. I also found I had them right after I used anything from a package mix...allergic to additives.
Then my doctor put me on an anti-seizure medicine, Neurontin, (Gabapentin), for the side effects (helping neuropathy). Shazaam!! Not a migraine since. I wish I had it when I was working. I used to go in with dark glasses on. I think one look at me was explanation to all. I hope this may help you. You have all my sympathy.

I am also a migraine sufferer, have been most of my life. It makes me so mad when people don't think it hurts as bad as we say, or that we're just making it sound worse than it is!! I don't work out of the house, I'm raising 3 sons, dispatch trucks (hubby & I own a trucking bussiness), help feed & calve out 100 head of cattle, and look after my 3 horses. I'm out of commission for 3 days with each migraine, I couldn't imagine having to go to a job outside my home and have some ******** boss not take it seriously!
I think you need to tell your boss that if he doesn't believe the amount of pain you're in, see if you could get a letter from your doctor explaining how miuch you suffer.
Good luck cuz I truly feel your pain!!
